Scrimmage update

It was not an offensive explosion, but at least the offensive outscored the defense (14-9) in the only major scrimmage of training camp.
The offensive line had trouble containing UCLA's front seven, but Kevin Craft did settle down after a poor start to play adequately.
Afterward, Bruins coach Rich Neuheisel said the running game needed to be markedly better in two weeks against Tennessee, but he did compliment Craft's ability to not get rattled by a poor start.
UCLA offensive coordinator Norm Chow said the offense was fine because the defense was playing with eight men close to the line of scrimmage much of the night, and the quarterbacks were not given the freedom to check out of plays to counter the eight-man box.
There were also a few interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown by Kyle Bosworth, and a fumbled snap that ended backup Chris Forcier's first drive.
Not even special teams were immune as Kai Forbarth and Jimmy Rotstein each had field goal attempts blocked.
