UCLA quarterback Ben Olson will miss at least eight weeks after breaking the fifth metatarsal in his right foot during a non-contact drill Saturday.
It is the same injury Olson (Thousand Oaks) suffered in the spring.

About Inside UCLA
This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.About this Entry

While I feel for Ben and his bad luck, Its time to move on and start grooming our next QB. His Fragile body is not made out to play football and if he made it through camp he would have been injured during the season. Hopefully Kraft or one of the freshman can step up
Exactly what sort of voodoo curse exists on the UCLA football program that's caused all of our Quarterbacks to get torn to pieces. At the rate we go through qb's well be starting the Waterboy by the time conference play starts

Cowan and Olson but hurt during non contact drills! Four wins will be a success!
Goosh.....I really feel for Olson. I thought this would be his year. I had the same thing happen to me while playing soccer a couple years back. Its really a freak accident. I rolled my foot, it was also non contact and ended up breaking my fifth metatarsal. Its called a Jones fracture and it takes longer to heal then a normal break because that part of the bone on the foot gets a limited supply of blood to it. Give the kid a break(I didn't mean that literally). Have some sympathy for him........think for a second what he must be going through??
I don't know what is more sad...seeing this happen to Olson again after all he's been through...or not being terribly surprised that he's suffered yet another injury. Either way, I wish the best for him and hope he's able to contribute to UCLA football sometime this season.
