wow... the AIG bailout even affected ucla football!
lol... sorry i found that to be funny
...too easy.
I Don't Appreciate That Last Remark! haha
pffffffffffffffffff..... Great tradition we have going. 59-0 followed by tickets that are cheaper than a lower tier high school football team.
Jill,
Does the $10 ticket price include a coupon for a free Hot Dog and a Coke?
My wife teaches at an elementary school in Orange County. The principal has dozens of these tickets to give away to students in each grade. He has NO connection to the school.
This game must really be hurting for attendance.
VB, I don't disagree with you that it creates an image...but when you just got whooped 59-0 and you want to fill up the end zones then you need to do something. This close to the game you have to figure the only people that will buy these tickets are people who weren't already planning on going anyhow...if they were, they'd already have tickets. Also, it isn't available on game day so stragglers that just decide to show up have to pay normal full price.
You didn't like the free band days to fill up the end zone. Here is an alternative (if it works). Your thoughts on other ways to fill up the stadium?
Unless the purpose is to try to fill the Rose Bowl, it seems like a bad idea. Can't be for financial gain i.e. an extra 5,000 tickets would generate $50,000, which is a paltry sum compared to total football revenue requirements.
Worse, it has to adversely affect the fans' good will who paid full price or scalpers' prices i.e. the average ticket price for the SC-Ohio State game on stubhub was $400, I believe, with some going for 4-figures.
I don't know what's worse --- the 59-0 drubbing, or the $10 fire sale. "Hurry, hurry, hurry! Step right up! Get your ticket to see the bearded lady and the elephant man. Just one sawbuck! This offer won;t last!"
Please tell me the UCLA AD/CTO didn't follow the BYU Whooping with a fire sale on tickets!
$10 tickets and this weekends game will STILL have a TON of empty seats! But yes, the football monopoly in LA is over...hahahaha!!
I doubt you get a hot dog and coke. This isn't the Oakland A's.
I don't understand why the cheap tickets is tied with a negative connotation. There is of course that possibility that it's a fire sale, but then there is also the possibility that the Rose Bowl tickets allotted for Arizona fans didn't get sold. Thus UCLA is given back the tickets and thought they could make extra money off of the situation.
hahaha i'm loving the comment about the A's
Based on the publicity and attention surrounding the "$10 ticket," UCLA Marketing has done its job very well once again this season. That's two for two. First the monopoly ad. Now the $10 ticket.
If you guys actually examine the fine prints, the $10 ticket only applies for general admission. Face value for general admission is $17. You save a whopping $7! Big freaking deal! Not only that, have you ever sat in the endzone seats? Those are some of the crappiest seats in the stadium.
If you want decent seats between the goal lines, the $10 ticket offer does not apply. The price of those tickets remain at $35 per seat. Gotta love the way UCLA packaged this promotion.
I'm taking my kids to the game (8, 7, and 4) it will be their 1st and I want it to be magical... What time does the band start and the pep rally and players wlak through?
Bailey - you asked above: You didn't like the free band days to fill up the end zone. Here is an alternative (if it works). Your thoughts on other ways to fill up the stadium?
WIN FOOTBALL GAMES!! That alone will fill up the stadium. USC got only about 50% attendance ~10yrs ago. Now tix are $400 for crappy seats at the bigger games. And no less than double face value for regular pac-10 games. Everyone wants to see a winner.
I STILL WILL NOT GO. I WON'T WASTE MY TIME.
