Here is a feature/game preview I wrote on UCLA quarterback Kevin Craft and the need for him to play relaxed, as well as a notebook about stopping Fresno State’s running game, and injury updates on quarterbacks Ben Olson and Nick Crissman.
As a side light, Bruins freshman quarterback Kevin Prince took reps with the first-team offense during Thursday’s practice, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him play if the Bruins offense has trouble scoring again.

UCLA WINS IF …the offense can figure out a way to get the ball into the end zone. The offense has two TDs in three games, and has not scored a touchdown in two games. …the defense and special teams can create short, short fields for the offense. Even better would be if those units can score. …QB Kevin Craft has an epiphany and everything the coaching staff says he knows suddenly translates into plays on the field.

Fresno State WINS IF …it controls the clock. The Bulldogs love to run the ball, and could wear down UCLA’s defense if they approach the 171 rushing yards per game they are averaging. …it shuts down UCLA’s running game. The Bulldogs are allowing 185.7 rushing yards per game, and the Bruins have 153 rushing yards this season. …UCLA’s marketing program works and more Fresno State fans make the trip, negating the Bruins’ home field. UCLA is 17-4 in its last 21 games at the Rose Bowl.
