Answers, Part VII

Here is the seventh installment:

Since this year looks bleak, what positives to you see emerging from the program?
DE Datone Jones, S Rahim Moore, RB Derrick Coleman ,WR Antwon Moutra, WR Nelson Rosario, LT Jeff Baca and plenty of other young players are getting experience, which will help greatly next season.

Why didn't Raymond Carter get any carries against Arizona? Is he going to get some this weekend?
The coaches decided they would rather have Chane Moline and Derrick Coleman carry the football. Also, I don't know if he will carry the ball this weekend, but I know he is in the game plan.

How close was UCLA with Peter Lalich? Any specific reasons why he chose Oregon State instead?
I don't think UCLA was close at all. In fact, I didn't hear anything about it being a real possibility. As far as why he chose Oregon State, I have no idea.

Are there any players you think that could help the team by switching to a different position?
Not really. It's too late for that.

Are the other quarterbacks so much worse than Craft that they did not get into the game even in the fourth quarter?
Not so much worse, but I think in the case with Kevin Prince, the feeling was he was not ready to handle everything associated with playing against a team that was going to blitz him. Also, it could have crushed his confidence, and it would take longer to get him back.

If an athlete from another school was considering transferring would they have to contact UCLA first before any discussion or recruitment took place?
No, the recruit has to get a release from the school it is leaving that allows them to contact UCLA, then the recruiting can begin.

How good do you think our running backs would be if they had an average offensive line or the line from last year?
Average. I don't think the running backs that came back from last year are anything special, but some of the freshmen could be big-time backs in a few years.

What do you think of Terrance Austin as a kick-off returner or punt returner? It seems to me that he fumbles or muffs way too often.
I think he fumbles too much.

Do you think Ben Olson will play this season? If so, do think this offense will be more productive with him?
I do not know if he will play again this season. I'm leaning toward his only time being as a backup in November. And if he did play, I think it would be minimally better because of the problems with the offensive line, and his limited mobility.

I don't know who Peter Lalich is, but he probably chose Oregon State because of their ability to take down SUC!

Lalich was Virginia's starting QB when the Cavaliers were blown out by SC. He was tossed from the program or school due to a probation violation.

Yea, if Lalich ever wanted to exact a little revenge on SC, he certainly chose the right school. How funny is that?

I heard Petros talking about him giving UCLA a serious look, that's why I asked the question.
