Here is the 10th set:

Do you believe the powers that be want to win badly enough that if Neuheisel does not pick up the win total by say, the end of next year, they will be looking for a new coach?
No, Neuheisel will be at UCLA for at least five years, providing he doesn't get in trouble off the field. The program he inherited was not in good shape. In fact, it was in awful shape.

I thought the football recruiting over the past few years was deemed better than average. What happened? Could this year's troubles be predicted 1-2 years ago?
I know heading into last season I thought Karl Dorrell had to be successful because this year's team was going to be bad. So, yes, I saw it coming.

How has admission for recruited athletes changed over the past decade?
Got me. This is only my sixth year covering UCLA, and I've seen little change. UCLA makes it tough for its coaches.

if howland gets a center and another guard this year, we'd have given 10 scholarships in 2 years. do you foresee this being a problem in future classes?
No, because the kids Howland is recruiting are high-caliber talents, and a number of them will be leaving well before their eligibility is exhausted.

of the 30 or so players currently on the roster that are marginally talented, are any from the 07 or 08 class? and lastly are any of the current commits for 09 questionable in your opinion?
There are some kids in the '07 and '08 class that I think will never be starters at UCLA, but there is time for development, and things like that can change. As for the '09 commits, I don't know them well enough to answer that, plus, these kids are only high school seniors, so it is too early to answer it.

why hasnt dan guererro felt more heat for the state of the football program? it was his hire that lead to the demise of the program and he hasnt really accomplished anything noteworthy (pauley renovation etc - btw howland was begging for the job, so it wasnt like he had a hard sell).
Because UCLA cares as much about winning water polo and tennis titles as winning football titles. Remember, it's a basketball school, and is the "First to 100.''

do you think dan guerrero has what it takes to run a successful football program? or is he the typical "company man" unwilling to make waves?
I am still formulating my opinion on that subject. I like how much he's increased the salaries of the coaching staff, but I believe a lot more work needs to be redone. He had to reshape the athletic department, which took a lot of time, and but I think he is willing to make waves, which is why he fired Bob Toledo after Guerrero was on the job a few months.

How did the official visit from Teo go? Do you think we will land him?
I was told he had a good time, like every recruit does on any official visit where the player is catered to, but I do not think he goes to UCLA. My bet is on BYU.

Do you think the offense will score a touchdown anytime soon? Do you think the team has a fighting chance against Fresno State?
The offense almost scored against Arizona. If Korey Bosworth would have fallen on the ball rather than scoop it up, the defense would have given the offense the ball at the 1-yard line. So I think the offense scores this week. I also think UCLA has a chance to beat Fresno State, although now I do not think it will happen.

Guerrero has his eye on the NCAA job. He is not fully committed to ucla.

Typical Democrat - thinks he deserves a promotion without doing anything in his current position.

Those are three such ignorant statements, and not necessarily linked to each other. Additionally, I'm not sure you've substantiated any of those claims.

1. Guerrero has his eye on the NCAA job. --These are unfounded rumors, and Guerrero has done an excellent job at UCLA since he got here. See basketball program, 100 chips, new football coaching hire, minimal off-field violations, etc.

2. He's not fully committed to UCLA -- Even if he were looking to get promoted to the NCAA job, which would be a promotion to a fine, respectable job, an event that would be an honor to UCLA, and something that all of us UCLA alum should be proud of, it doesn't necessarily mean he's not fully committed to UCLA at the moment. Additionally, you can't expect the man to spend the rest of his life at UCLA if he has other hopes and dreams he wants to chase. It's his life. You're also insinuating, I think, that because of this lack of commitment he isn't doing a good job. That's simply not true. See point 1.

3. Typical Democrat...-- Your characterization of the "typical democrat" is also unsubstantiated, narrow-minded, and one-dimensional. I'm sure many corporate CEOs would and/or do take compensation packages without accomplishing very much either--and they probably vote Republican. But that doesn't mean that it's a "typical" Republican trait. What you're pointing to is a human trait -- the desire for maximum benefit for minimum effort -- that is probably present to some degree in all of us.

I'm glad to have Guerrero as an AD, but if you have a different opinion, you're entitled to it. Just don't do it by stringing together a set of unproven, ignorant statements to make a hackneyed political statement. Let's just keep facts with facts, and football with football.

PS: "hackneyed" means unoriginal or tired. Just so you don't have to look it up.

Is this even a serious question? Hey Genius Under Dan Guerrero we have one more NCAA titles in the past 6 years than under any other AD in the nation. Not to mention he came in at a time when the search for the coaching job was being pointed towards dorrell before, it wasn't his first choice. He was a stellar UCLA baseball athlete with well above a 3.0 gpa. Not to mention he has incredible UCLA pride and the fact that he bleeds blue and gold. He has also kept our entire UCLA athletic department clean maintaining our prestige. Dan Guerrero is a catch, and UCLA could only pray that our next one lives up to as much potential as our current. Next time do a little reading on your own time, we have Neu, Chow, and Walker coaching our kids don't we? There are no stupid questions just stupid people. Sorry Brian, but frankly that is a completely dumb question.

Typical Trojan? I think you have your "Jeffs" mixed up. Steve Martin said it best when he quipped, "How many WASPs does it take to throw a party? Three: one to bring the Tanqueray, one to bring the tonic, and the third to put on the 'SC game..." Just because this Jeff expresses himself in complete sentences and demonstrates critical thinking hardly makes him a "typical Trojan."

Gotta love this trash talking about who is smarter, an SC guy or a ucla fellow, as if either one is Harvard or MIT educated.

"Typical" SC male: shallow, egotistical, humorless.

"Typical" ucla guy: shallow, egotistical, humorless.
