Collie, by TKO
UCLA defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker said he will talk to cornerback Alterraun Verner about the lack of execution in the game plan. All week Verner was told to play up on BYU receiver Austin Collie, but during the game Verner sat back and was passive, and he paid. Collie caught 10 passes for 110 yards, all in the first half.
"That what we need to talk about,'' Walker said. "That was the game plan. We knew (Collie) was the guy. We wanted to put our best guy on their best guy, and their best guy got the best of him.''

Nice job of calling out an individual player and making him the scapegoat. If he was lining up too far off the receiver, isn't that the coaches' job to correct it? It shouldn't have happened more than once.
I'm sure Verner was also responsible for the offense scoring 0 points.
Walker needs to man-up and take his share of the responsibility.
I thought Walker was to be the coach. Not slick new weasel
Either we really suck or BYU is really good. On Versus the commentator said that BYU should stop throwing to Collie or Verner would have him for lunch. He was obviously wrong and the comments about Collie not getting it done seemed to disappear. We need experience and hopefully it will come time and experience.
Wow. A little CYA here? I'm not sure that throwing your best, most experienced guy under the bus is "relentlessly positive."
I'm never in favor of singling out these guys - they're all still learning.
