Cover boy
Kevin Love is the new cover boy of EA's NCAA Basketball 09 video game. Love, who was selected fifth in the NBA draft by Memphis, then traded to Minnesota, was at UCLA just a today to unveil the video game cover. An EA employee demonstrated the game, which had a cool replica of Pauley Pavilion. The game, however, is only 50 percent complete and won't be out until December.
The video game cover even features Love's chin strap (facial hair), but he said he's been asked to get rid of it in Minnesota.

Love should not be allowed on Campus. His BS may rub off on TRUE Bruins! We don't need any of his attitude influencing our B-Ball team.
Why does Dohn get harassed by rent-a-cops for looking for his Rutgers Crocs in his trunk during practice, but they let "Mr. I love the College experience" cruise around and have press conferences on campus? That's just not right!
ha. that's great that he's on the cover. hopefully there's no "madden curse" involved with this game. plus, as much as i loved the kid, that goofy looking chin strap needed to go.
Awesome for KL but that game sucks.
Prodigal Bruins...
KL never did anything to bring down UCLA! Had he gone to another school do you think UCLA would have gone to a third straight final four? Anyone that is a top 5 pick in the NBA should make the jump - he'd have been stupid NOT to! You mean to tell me you wouldn't have gone to the NBA if you were a guaranteed first round lock just so you could wear a UCLA jersey again. To take a line from VB: pfffff......
To the contrary, we should be glad EA chose KL to be on the cover. Do you have any idea how people will see that in their Best Buy/Circuit City/Walmart/Target, etc? Its called free positive exposure to UCLA for future recruits! You don't think that'll be used to lure recruits? People say Howland doesn't recruit bigs well...he can now say, come to UCLA, go to a Final Four, be a top 5 draft pick, and even get on the cover of a video game. That is the stuff recruits DREAM of.
And the rent-a-cops are doing their job, to keep people from seeing plays that they aren't supposed to. Be glad that they are being protective of their game plan! What's the harm in that?
Go Bruins!
PB is stirring the pot . . . . VB is getting quoted . . . . . Is UBTA ownership on the horizon?
For the record, I hate one and dones. To h--- with them all! Don't recruit CLEAR 1&D players. Let them go to Europe. NBA, PLEASE CHANGE YOUR AWEFUL RULE!
Why'd they make him get rid of the "Color Me Bad" chin strap?
UB, Why don't you personally get the rule changed. They make it awfully hard to turn down Million's of dollars these day's with our failed economy. Stop blaming the players! So your telling me you hate Ben Howland and Kevin Love? So knowing KL was always a one and done did you hate rooting for him and Ben because he is such a bad person for recruiting him. You need to wake up and smell the 21st Century. Don't get me wrong, I agree completely they need to change the rule, but I hate it when people attack the players when they have no clue what really goes on behind the scenes.
ummm i highly doubt that the state of the economy has anything to do with the amount of one and dones. it isnt like Love sat there and objectively calculated his potential millions vs whatever potential inflation existed if he waited another year. millions of dollars will be equally alluring to all 19 year olds, no matter the economic state of the country.
Kevin Love blows. Dude should be banned from Westwood.
And why was Dohn being a peeping tom on top of the parking structure? Was he peaking at the Dance Team tryouts?
VB you are a tool and so is anyone who agrees with him. BH knew the Klove was likely a 1 and done, just as he knows that JH is going to be 1 and done. People may not like the rule or the situation that it creates, but right now thats the way it is and we shouldn't blame the players for whats going on. You're trash talking the greatest UCLA big man since Bill Walton. What he did as a freshman was Durant and Beasley like, he was just so underrated/unheralded because of the slow style of play and the lack of plays created for him (I'm not saying this to knock BH, his success speaks for itself). I for one thank Love for his time spent at UCLA and will continue to thank him for the excellent representation of UCLA.
Oh and for those who hate the rule, you may hate the free-agency like situation, but it is bringing more and more viewers to the college game, meaning more $$ for the school.
Agree with you on all points SigBruin. Don't hate the player, hate the game. Coaches all want to win (as we do as well) and they're all playing within the rules that have been established. VB knows he's proud of UCLA's three straight final fours...and he also knows it only would have been two in a row if KLove went to University of Nike up in Eugene.
Kevin Love is not to blame for this system, the NBA is. I wish they'd adopt a similar rule to baseball - either go pro right away, or commit to college for two or three years.
Even as a one and done, my 17 (now 18) year old son loved watching him. We went to Phoenix to watch the games and had a blast. We came home and bought a Love jersey to go in our game room. We're not sorry we went.
I think the NBA will change this soon, and it will be to everyone's benefit. I think the better recruiting tool though is to talk about Westbrook. He was nowhere when he came to UCLA, and he turned into top four pick. Now that's something to brag about.
