Craft or Prince
Here is the notebook from today's paper, which deals with UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel telling freshman QB Kevin Prince to warm up in case the staff decided to change quarterbacks.

pfffff.. What a suprise.. All the unintelligent Bruin fans are voting for Prince to be the starter. Listen people, Craft is doing fine, given the hand he has been dealt. You think Prince will do better than Craft with this HORRIBLE, downright PUTRID offensive line? Just because we are losing, everyone wants to see a new QB. Guess what, we will STILL lose with Prince at the helm. At least with Craft we have a guy with some experience. He isn't doing that bad. Sure, he made ONE bad decision last game and threw the ball before the first down marker. But Prince will be worse.
Come back down to reality for a second Bruin fans. The QB isn't the problem. The problem is our OFFENSIVE LINE.
I think a lot of people are just voting for the unknown because most of us have never seen the other guys play. If you asked people at the beginning of the season if they'd want Craft or Olson (given Olson was healthy), many might have said Craft just because he was unknown, while Olson has been around for a while and has been known to disappoint. Now people have seen Craft in 3 games and are saying "well, that didn't work, lets cross our fingers and throw someone else (our fourth string QB) in.
Football comes down to blocking and tackling. Right now, our o-line can't block. It doesn't matter who's back there if there's no protection. They can't even get off a quick slant without the QB getting hit.
Okay. But what I'm saying is that you can have Peyton Manning or Tom Brady at the helm for the Bruins, but they wouldn't do much with the offensive line we have. Everyone thinks it is the fault of the 1) Coaching 2) QB 3) Skill players. The fact is that it is the fault of our line. Plain and simple. Dohn was right all along, dang it! Our line is the worst I have ever seen it. In fact, I bet Mater Dei High School or De La Salle could push our O'line around.
Bottom line. Craft is our best option at this point. If given time, he will perform better than Prince, a TRUE FRESHMAN, would.
Brian,
Sometimes I wonder what's on your shoulders.
Why ask such a question when no one really knows anything about the QBs you listed except for Craft. Oh, Rasshan played a bit last year, but as you keep on reporting, he is buried on the depth chart, he's running the scout team, and he hasn't done anything to impress the coaches.
For all those who say it should be Prince, what is that based on? A tease in your articles that say he's now taking snaps with the second team, or that he supposedly was told to warm up in the second half against Arizona? (BTW, if that's really true, why did it take you this long to report it? Why weren't you all over this after the game???)
How many of your readers have actually seen any of these guys practice? Exactly...
That is why PUSC is one of my homies. He has a BRAIN.
Prince must wax Dohn's car and babysit his kids regularly. Brian has a soft spot for Mormon players.
This is all nonsense, give it to whoever does the best in practice that given week.
Mark Sanchez has three different guys breathing down his neck at any given time. And he's the Pac-10's dark-horse Heisman Candidate.
VB,
Maybe we should all have a little more respect for Mormons after the BYU game.

hilarious as always bruddah. damn i wish i could be back at the rose bowl this season. i'll be back 2010 when my wife finishes school, then i don't have to watch my baby girl on saturdays, at least during Bruin football saturdays.
everyone's wishing for a miracle cure for the offense, that's why they're wanting Prince.
it's going to be a tough year, we can go 1-11, but i don't give a you know what, i'm still TRUE BLUE!!
I got your back fellas!! GO BRUINS!!!
Have Faith! This decision should be left to our Very, Very capable offensive coaching staff.
Yes, we are all appalled at the play we have had to endure recently. Be patient and do exactly what we ask of players, don't give up, fight to the finish.
As a fan I shouldn't ask my team to never quit and then do that very thing myself.
GO BRUINS!! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!
We all know that disgruntled fans want to see the backup when things are sucking. And we all know that our OL isn't very good. But I have a hard time believing that Prince won't get some playing time very soon, and maybe even some significant time. I see no problem putting him, or even Forcier, into the game, especially when the game is out of reach. I've seen Craft take every snap for 3 games. Even with a crappy OL, it's evident that he doesn't have good arm strength or accuracy past 10 yards. The OL has nothing to do with that. And Prince, although he is a true freshman and is very new to the program, is very talented and has a great arm (yes I have seen him throw in person quite a bit). I don't see him redshirting (so throw out that argument) and the coaches clearly like him, so let's get him in the game now and then. I don't see a "Brady-replacing-Bledsoe" thing happening, and Craft probably should start the rest of the year, but Prince needs to see some action soon.
Fair enough. I see no harm in giving Prince some reps. But for some fans to say that putting him in is the answer to our problems is just ridiculous.
Change for change sake, experience be damned?
Heh, I run my campaign on it.
Right now I don't think it matters who is QB, with a line that can't block and receivers that can run simple outs correctly. A long time ago when I was playing WR and DE for the Hawaii Kai Surfers one thing that was hammered into my head was that a 10 yard out needed to be run 10 yards to work. If Austin is running 7 yards and out when the play calls for a 15 yard route, no QB in the world is going to get him the ball. No excuse for bad routes, IMO.
Have to agree with BruinGirl...doesn't matter much with the players around him, especially the O-line.
Still, if the game gets out-of-hand, I think its worth giving Prince some snaps if for no other reason than experience.
Steve
Hey Barack, if you're Prince does that mean Olsen is Hillary?
The better choice being ignored.
with the Bruins' O-line, sooner or later Craft is gonna get hurt so Prince will get his chance.
