Evans to 'SC
One of UCLA's top receiver targets, Inglewood High receiver Shaquelle Evans, gave a non-binding oral commitment to USC. Evans was at the USC-Ohio State, and told the coaching staff he was going to attend USC.
From what I understand, UCLA will still recruit him hard, but it will be difficult to get him away from USC.

wat lozer
I thought the smack talk laid down by Moore over the weekend would lead Evans away from playing at SC...guess not.
Mike04,
What smack talk? Brian kept saying that this kid was almost a lock for UCLA, what happened?
Moore was talking up how he was going to shut down Evans. Apparently, after switching up on him, Evans didn't get so much as a catch the rest of the game.
Mike04 Thanks.
While Shaq is a loss what we really need is OL...
Someone will have to de-commit from USC:
Evans, Carroll, Jeffrey, and Fluornoy are all committed. Something smells funny.
"but it will be hard to get him away from USC."
Seriously, Dohn, did you have to add that last line?

USC only has one dependable receiver in Damien Williams (already a junior), none of the others have been able to secure the #2 spot. And even Williams spot isn't totally secure since in Pete Carroll's system you have to win your spot week-by-week.
Any of the Trojans commits can turn out to be the starter at USC by the end of training camp next year.
Read the article you posted, it was three blocks north of campus.
Regardless, a very sad event.
It blows me away that recruits still choose USC with the Reggie Bush/NCAA Sanctions still a very real possibility. You could be looking at post season bans, etc. No matter the school, I'd look elsewhere.
Randall Carroll could switch still to UCLA, but at USC he would play wide receiver or cornerback. I think Evans will probably go to Notre Dame.
Was Notre Dame ever a rumored destination for Evans
None of the possible sanctions against USC would affect recruits.
The worst sanction against USC would be changing some wins to no-contests (as opposed to a win or loss). That probably doesn't matter to an incoming athlete.
I'd never heard that they might be bowl bans but the school is high profile enough that the players don't need them for exposure.

I guess recruits would rather play for a team with possible sanctions rather than have to play at UCLA. Hahaha! That is sad!
I hadn't heard Evans was considering Notre Dame. Interesting.
I also don't see any repercussions the USC program may draw if the Reggie Bush accusations turn out to be true, that would affect incoming recruits.
Their wins from a few years ago turn into no-decisions in the record books and their Pac-10 title is given to the 2nd place team.
Even if there were bowl restrictions (which I'd never heard of before) it doesn't really matter. The school gets enough regular season exposure to give NFL scouts a look at the talent.
