In the past?

| | Comments (3) |

The questions continued about UCLA's meltdown at BYU, but UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel moved to politely extinguish them.
"As I've told them, we're going to stop talking about the past,'' Neuheisel said. "Let's start talking about Arizona.''
What did Neuheisel like about the practice to give hope for a turnaround?
"Everybody showed up," he said. "They all came back to work, and fired up about it.''

Good approach.

That BYU game was an anamoly, in my opinion. A 'perfect storm' occurred and ucla was the victim. I mean, 3 turnovers in, what, a 5-minute period is somewhat unprecedented.

And guess what? I bet Tennessee had a harder time overcoming its loss to the bruins because it was a game it could have won. I don't believe any bruin, unless a total psychotic, would believe its team could of have/should have won the BYU game.

I think BYU is a very good football team, and it seems to me that most Bruins don't want to acknowledge that. I'm not saying we couldn't have done better, but BYU did approach that "perfect" game ideal.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
