Neuheisel on BYU's Hall

I will have more from UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel on Monday, but after watching tape and thinking about Saturday's loss, he had this to say about BYU, and quarterback Max Hall.
"The BYU team we saw yesterday can play with anybody," Neuheisel said. "As experienced as they are in that offense, and (quarterback) Max Hall is as good a quarterback I've seen in college in a long time, at least the way he played yesterday."

Yeah, if Max Hall continues to play that way they may as well hand him the Heisman Trophy. But it was more than Hall. That big offensive line, that huge bruising running back, and a defense that hit hard, equals a team that could go undefeated.

And with the SEC teams bound to incur at least one loss, who knows, BYU might be in the title game. They certainly looked as if they deserved it Saturday afternoon.

I was at the game on Saturday. The wild thing about this BYU team is that they have no fear. UCLA did not intimidate them at all. I don't think anyone in their league will intimidate them either. If BYU does go undefeated, and in the wacky Mountain West Conference you never know, they deserve going to that national title game. BYU is the team that started all the BCS controversy back in 1984 with a national championship. When that happened the supposed power conferences schemed how they would get most of the bowl money. They didn't think they could afford the likes of BYU doing it again. In my opinion, they cannot afford to not put an undefeated BYU team in that national championship game to let them prove their worth.... NOT BYU"s WORTH BUT RATHER THE POWER CONFERENCES WORTH. There is indeed parity in NCAA football. Not parity of cash but rather parity of teams, conferences and skill. GO BYU! This is one Bruin fan rooting for you to finish #1.

I really thought BYU was playing at a magical level.

My groin still hurts from that massive kick it took on Saturday. If we keep losing like that, I may never have children.

I guess it's true that every cloud has a silver lining.

Cheer Up Bruin Fans!

With the PAC-10 being so unpredictable this year, I say the Bruins win at least 7-8 games this year. Still a lot of football to play!

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
