Pac-1.5

Not only was it a miserable weekend for UCLA, but also for the Pacific-10, which was embarrassed in many different ways. Not only was the conference 3-7 this week, but it lost five games to non-BCS schools.
It also appears it is USC's conference, and after that just a mish-mash of teams.
The results?
USC 35, Ohio State 3
Maryland 35, Cal 27
TCU 31, Stanford 14
BYU 59, UCLA 0
Oregon 32, Purdue 26 2OT
Oregon State 45, Hawaii 7
Oklahoma 55, Washington 14
New Mexico 36, Arizona 28
Baylor 45, Washington State 17
UNLV 23, Arizona State 20 OT

I hate to say this, but UCLA needs to tone down the OOC football schedule a notch until the program can gain some traction. This is the same thing Howland does. You don't see the hoops program making trips to Gonzaga, St Marys or UNLV.

I disagree,
If you want to win big, you have to play the "bigs." That Tennessee win was even bigger than the 13-9 win over USC a few years back as far as drawing attention to the program.

Beating a JC caliber school might boost the confidence of some delusional players but ti's not going to draw recruits from across town.

UCLA is one of a handful of teams that has never played a Divsion 1-AA team. Let's keep it that way. Most of these games are scheduled years in advance. No need to panic.

I would kill for a good D1 JC caliber school. Where are they?

They lost to 4 non-BCS schools not 5. Baylor is I believe still in the Big 12.

0-4 against the MWC!

Horrible week for the Pac-10. The worst part will be the annoying-as-hell SEC fans.

Real impressive win by their best team - Georgia won 14-7 when Carolina fumbled the tying TD in the end zone.

Dorrell beat BYU, Walker loses on last play, and Neuheisel gets killed by 59. What a trip.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
