Raymond Carter ready
UCLA tailback Raymond Carter, who missed last season with a knee injury, said he felt rusty in his college debut against Tennessee at the outset, but it quickly faded.
"I think after my first play, I got comfortable with it," Carter said. "I went in there calm, but I was more calm after the first play because I didn't know what to expect since it was my first time running the ball. Now, it's just regular to me, so I feel like I'm ready."

This is

Carter will be a great back in the years to come. I wonder why he isn't returning punts. We need another Maurice Drew.
(Watch everyone get mad at me about something.. Maybe I breathed the wrong way)
VB - start your own blog, seriously. It's not that hard, and hijacking every comments section is just getting OLD.
www.blogger.com
Go get 'em RC!!
Brian, are you allowed us to give any statistics of how many hits this blog gets per day, etc? I tune in religiously and get the feeling like others really do as well. Also, have you thought about having Q&A twice a week to break down the volume in two waves? Maybe Tue and Fri?
pfffff. I apologize for "hijacking the blog." I didn't realize that we weren't allowed to comment on every post.
And, in case you are interested, I do have my own blog. It is still under construction, but here is the link:
www.ultimatebruin.com
Where is the Q&A link, Brian? I have a plethora of inquiries.
Go Bruins!
In case you missed it V-butthead:
We're all trying to talk some sense into you because you are hindering our enjoyment of an otherwise great blog.
I understand you like attention but it is sad that negative attention is better than none at all for you.
If you could say something intelligent once in a while you might get to experience the real camaraderie that you desperately desire.
In the meantime, grow up and stop acting like an 8th grader.
LOL
I guess I have this deep-rooted hope that when Brian Dohn moves on one day to bigger and better things that he will hand the power of this blog over to VB. Then you will all be screwed! LOL.
VB, I just checked out your blog and it hasn't had any activity since late August and only has one brief article. I think we would indeed be screwed if you took over for Brian Dohn.
VB, perhaps there is a happy medium between being the kid who always speaks before raising his hand and simply not talking at all. You do provide a certain amount of entertainment, but the frequency with which you comment waters your message(s) down. (And no, this isn't me trying to "censor" you.)
VB
you're a hardcore true blue bruin.
keep doing your thing bruddah!!
it's hilarious, not everyone gets it
VB - honestly, I don't care about your comments one way or another and enjoy making fun of them at times. It's Dohn's blog, if he is fine w/it then okay by me, it's just a bit distracting sifting through the comments when you're on one of your benders...
Hey look, you got a new fan, PUSC! LOL!!
LOL.. I have two guys drafted on team VB so far:
PUSC and StillHatesMichaelFey
Not everyone gets VB? What's not to get? I get him but I left 8th grade humor behind me when I started high school...
VD is something not everyone gets. Yeah...yeah. Fire....
hahaha i had absolutely no idea i was drafted by you but i'll take it. to tell you the truth i HATED you until like 3 days ago, but even if you do like to rile things up which can be annoying i feel for you cus of the undue criticism most of the time. usually based on your history as opposed to what you wrote. which sucks, cus honestly what you write like 60% of the time is right and not just controversial. plus i've realized over the past few days that bruinfbbb or whatever can sorta be a jerkface so i wouldnt wanna be drafted by his team.
oh and btw that sinbad thing was HILARIOUS. i never even thought of that. i made the name cus he was the most frustrating player i've ever seen. for a while both him and hollins i did not understand, when you are that tall you simply have to be able to grab 6-8 boards a game based on size (especially when hollins was a high jumper). i dunno if his massively overweight body made it impossible to get off the floor but he was the slowest, most unmotivated, absolute WORST player of his size i have ever seen. but i do love hollins, he seemed to get it together his senior year for howland. plus he had some nasty swats into the stands.
My family and I had season seats at basketball for a few years and we would always yell "Stupid Fey" all game because he would always mess up at the most important points in the game.
We went to the Pac10 tourney and sat courtside for our first round loss to Oregon State a few years ago when Fey was a senior. The whole game we were yelling "Stupid Fey."
Even now, when someone messes up on our basketball team or football team, we will still yell, "Stupid Fey." LOL
hahaha thats actually sorta awesome. i love when things carry through like that.
hey because i'm bored (as you will all learn later in this post) and sorta starting to recognize names on this blog, i was wonderin if people would be willing to share their situation/relation to ucla? just to kinda see who i'm talking to.
as for me, i'm actually only going to be an incoming freshman in 2 weeks but i like to think i'm ahead of my time in both real life and sports analysis maturity. the reason i'm on this blog all day is because my friends are all off at college so i'm bored all day and i can only play so much ncaa 09 in one day. ucla has sorta been a dream for me, i turned down schools that were "better academically" even though i've only loved ucla for like 6 years now. i'm also based in the san fernando valley. oh, and i'm an absolute sports nut, go packers, dodgers, lakers, and especially bruins!
i hope at least 1 other person comments here, so i don't look dumb.
LMAO.
BruinFBBB = "Stupid Fey"
Zippy = "Stupid Fey"
Bailey = "Stupid Fey"
Predictions for Saturday?
Here is mine: UCLA 24, BY Puke 21
VB, UB and any other _B:
Your comments serioulsy bring down the quality of this blog. From one Bruin fan to another, please refrain from the name calling and just enjoy Dohn and Painter's insights. Numerous people have stated they don't enjoy the volume and style of your posts. Is too much to ask that you dial it down and stop just trying to get people fired up? If you've got youthful energy then please use it elsewhere - like a suc blog...that I'd read! I'd almost rather read ONLYTHETRUTH or Sam Gilbert than read the 101st version of you standing on a soap box about how entitled you are.
Go Bruins!
UB, VB and PB will never be contained until we have received rebuke from Brian Dohn himself. Until then, we will continue to blog as we please.
If you would read my posts today, you will see that I have refrained mostly from name-calling and perpetual negativity. So what are you still crying about?
And not EVERYONE hates us. StillHatesMichaelFey seems to like us now. As does PUSC and a few others. Please stop crying, Barnum and Bailey.
You're doing much better lately VB. Thanks.
But have you ever heard of the silent majority? Look it up.
As for Dohn stepping in- he has enough to do maintaining the greatness of this blog instead patrolling the comment section like an 8th-grade playground supervisor.
Some of us are old and mature enough to police ourselves...
Oh, please, Bailey! If you would have taken the time to carefully read the post, no 'name calling' was made. I merely dovetailed on the "Stupid Fey" post and engaged in proximity poetry. BTW, have at it with VB, he can hold his own against the best, but be careful in your chastisement of UB. Borrowing from Paul Simon: "He was a mean individual. He had a heart like a bone. He was a natural crazy man and better off left alone . . . . "
Dohn is laughing heartily . . . I'll bet he is on pay-per-blog. The Daily News wants to renegotiate!
VB, you have BruinFBBB's approval. Apparently, when you are "old" and "mature" like BruinFBBB, you are relegated to "policing" yourselves.
BruinFBBB is probably one of those old toots who sit in our section and yell at us when we stand up. Probably the same crotchedy old man who left early from the last game too.
I think you must have meant "capable of" rather than "relegated to"...you're not making much sense otherwise.
Honest mistake...
as i avoid taking sides here, i just have to wonder: bruinfbbb, what is your obsession with the 8th grade? it seems like every time you post it includes that phrase.
What would give that impression? That fact that I act like an adult when posting on this blog?
I assure that my actions on this blog and the level of my fandom are mutually exclusive concepts...
I don't know what I find funnier; the fact that people are moved so easily by VB's comments or that some people feel it is their "Duty" to police blogs/message boards. It ranks up there with the grammar police.
VB says some stuff I may not agree with but I take it for what it is worth; it is his opinion and he is trying to get reactions from everyone.
There is no denying he is a huge UCLA fan. Just because he is a fan does not mean he cannot be honest about the state of the team(s). Just my two cents, not chastising anyone.
Bailey, if you want to read some of VB's funniest posts visit a certain CBS sports website. VB has been having fun with the BYU fans. I also remember VB and UB having some good exchanges with Florida and Notre Dame fans over six months ago.
No obsession with it other than it seems to fit well when describing the humor and analysis level of VB's posts to this blog from time to time...
Though he has done better lately...
BruinFBBB keeps going back to 8th grade because that's as far as he got in school...
VB's lame antics are immature time and time again...which is why BruinFBBB keeps saying 8th grade. It isn't like BruinFBBB is saying that just cause he feels like it...its only in response to VB writing as if he has a clue. Don't back down BruinFBBB...you ARE right.
Think of how awesome Dohn's blog would be if VB didn't comment several times to just about every item Brian posts. Last time I checked it was Brian's name and picture at the top of this page, NOT VB's. If I want to look at VB's "cool guy" pose, I'll check out his lame website with no information. Thanks, but I'll pass.
BruinFBBB:
UB wrote "relegated to" and meant "relegated to." If I wanted to use "capable of," I would have done so. UB is VERY precise in the use of the English language. The fact that you thought I made and 'honest' mistake indicates that you missed the meaning of what I was trying to convey. Apparently, I can't be so subtle. Next time, I will parenthetically translate my prose for you. (That is to say, next time, I'll keep it real simple for you.)
This is really good news for Bruins fans. I hope our rbs bust a couple this week.
On a side note, if a person really wants to live only in the ideal blogging world of their heart's desire then hire a programmer to edit the display so that the posts of those that offend him will not be displayed on his computer. It's good for the programmer and your stress level. :)
