This is

do these kids have to pay to get into the game or is it free from them? Why would B Moore come to the UCLA game? He went from our side to the dark side.....
Matt Barkely was there. Did you not include him because he is already committed to SUC?
VB, there are about 5 or 6 kids on that list that are commited to other schools.......
Free for them.
I thought Richard Brehaut was there?
VB,
Off the top of my head Graf, Carroll and Presley are USC commits.
Why wouldn't you invite them? You're sending a message to SC recruits that you aren't going to back down on the field or off it. RN needs to give them something to think about, especially w/ a guy like Pressley who grew up a Bruin fan (heard it on tv).
With the hype behind this win and Blake Ayles emergence as USC's tight end of the future, UCLA should have a good shot at poaching Presley.
Okay guys, that's my point! There are people on that list who are commits for other schools. MATT BARKLEY WAS THERE. So why did Dohn exclude him from the list? Does he think there is NO CHANCE Barkley will leave USC? Or did he forget to include him?
We live in a world where young people are instructed that their promise, their word, their commitment means nothing. Make a promise, knowing all along that you'll break it if something better comes along. It's easier to do that than to do the work and research ahead of time.
Is there any wonder why, when these young people speak, no on believes them? A handshake means nothing to a whole generation of people who steal, copy and cheat regularly. If you don't think they steal, copy and cheat just take a look at their iPod.
UB was there and I am not on the list! Oh wait! I don't have any eligibility!
Seriously, verbal commits are not bound, so why not invite them to see a UCLA home game at the Rose Bowl. As it turns out, UCLA surprised the football world and beat the Vols in an exciting 4th quarter/OT. It may give some of the CROOTS pause to think. Maybe, just maybe, UCLA would be a better pick.
Dohn, do you know where the coaching staff is going this weekend to recruit?
Was Tate Forcier there just to visit his brother? I know he is committed to Michigan (and can change his mind), but in reality is his brother gonna tell him to come to UCLA? Is he gonna say the starter threw 4 picks and I can't get into the game. Kevin Prince is about to pass me as the second stringer with Crissman waiting in the wings and Richard Brehaut coming in. I don't think Chris will be selling UCLA to Tate...
**watching BruinGuy as he shakes his left fist in the air and holds a cane in his right hand**
Ah, yes, I know. It's difficult for me to live in a world where integrity means absolutely nothing. Give me time, though, I'll learn to adjust. Maybe.
BruinGuy, thanks for so easily reinforcing the stereotype of the 'bitter old man'.
If I recall correctly, it's the Baby Boomer Generation that has a 50% divorce rate. So it's not like making a commitment has exactly been a binding choice for you guys, either.
Good Lord. Stop blaming the youth of the world for all of its problems. Look in the mirror.
Non of these players have signed on the dotted line. They are not allowed to do so until when? November?
Some of them have given non-binding oral commitments and if an 18 year-old kid has a change of heart before signing the binding contract then he displays a lack of integrity? Get real...
My assumption is that the list above only includes the recruits that were "hosted" by UCLA via complimentary tickets for the game. Just because Matt Barkley was there does not mean that he was invited/hosted by UCLA. I'm sure there were lots of other HS recruits at the game, they just weren't given tickets by UCLA.

OH SNAP!!!!
I never would have guessed this thread would turn into an ethics argument.
Anyway, back to football.
Totally impressed with Neu for bringing all these guys to a game that everyone was expecting the Bruins to lose. Either he was extremely confident in his team or in his ability to recruit.
Either way, respect.
You invite the verbal commitments to other schools so that at a minimum they go back to their schools and team mates with positive things to say about UCLA. It's a good approach.
As the mother of one of the recruits invited to the UCLA game for which we flew in from Hawaii for....I've got to say that after that impressive OT win, UCLA has moved up significantly on his list of schools he is considering; from bottom of the his top ten to the top 3!
Kina,
Thanks the information! We can definitely use a big strong guy like Kapua. Our offensive line needs some help. Hopefully Kapua ends up a Bruin!
