What exactly do we gain from having a special teams coach? Other than the individual skill of perez and forbath, the special teams is absolutely abysmal.

hi brian, wanted to say that i think austin receving punts is not working at all.... kevin craft he looks awful if he gets blitzed he just dumps the ball off.. what do you think about giving prince a start.. i noticed the wildcats on punt return (12 of them) always runs towards the sidelines. well ucla runs to the middle of the field.... so when does basketball season start monday ???

What a long 2 or 3 years this is going to be. Not to disrespect any of the Bruins, but this has to be the slowest team I've ever seen at UCLA. Pretty much the reason special teams is so bad.....no speed. No speed at running back, wide reciever, linebacker, tight ends......nothing. Hopefully, the marketing dept does not ever compare this program to the University of Street Corner across town. As I mentioned before. UCLA will end up being the Stanford of the south in the pac 10 if the admissions standards continue to be tougher. Craft does not throw a catchable ball, but then again, the UCLA recievers cannot get open. RN must be thankful that the pay is good. It is very hard to watch. No thanks to Dorrell. That guy ruined this program for a long time.

For the 2nd week in a row, I am thankful that my 2 oldest kids are in AYSO > I was blessed with the opportunity to miss the 1st 3 quarters of the game! Bring on the Hoops season - please!

Dominique Johnson needs to get into the game. He had an easy catch that hit him between the numbers and he had a clear shot at 6.

Hey SC class of 42. All I can say is USC must really SUCK. Oh yeah you losers still have 9-13!!! Second is like last!

I am so tired of spending my summer and fall afternoons
at the Rose Bowl watching UNWATCHABLE football. WE SUCK! Terrance Austin SUCKS Dominique Johnson SUCKS!
How much longer do we have to watch these FAR BELOW AVERAGE recievers play when we have young talent to play. Dorrells players are heartless and devoid of quality talent. We are playing for the future, playing guys like these two es piontless. If Ben Olson comes back and shows up on the field for any other reason than every other qb is hurt I will leave the stadium
Put in Kevin Prince and play the kids. We will loose next week and sadly we suck against the other doormat of the pac 10 Washington St. If Fulmer was not a moron
and ran the ball Tennessee should have beat us by 21 pts.
Let me be relentlessly positive now.............At least that are not all dead!

Thank you Mr. Dorrell...The rest of the PAC 10 also sends its thanks for what you have done to the UCLA program. I second the motion to sit as many Dorrell players as possible and replace them with this year's recruits. The new Bruins needs experience. Of course, I suppose they could learn how not to be mediocre by watching this year's team...

Well, well, well, the powder blue bottom pukes got routed again. You chumps are an embarrassment to the pac 10. You should be kicked out of the conference and down to division II where you belong.

Thank God we don't play New Mexico.

Can we play Tennessee again?

It was nice of Mike Stoops to hold back and not pop in the two extra TD's he could have.

Seriously, unless you are a 10 year old, there is no reason for gloating on another teams blog, trojans. I hope you don't teach that crap to your children.

A good rivalry definitely can have some smack, but this is not the place for it. For example, I would not talk about your alums buying Reggie a house/Jarrett rent/Mayo tickets (pretty sure this is the least of what he got) on Wolf's blog. I also won't be going on Scott's blog during basketball season, when we will yet again carry the conference.

Also, using our 13-9 victory as smack is pretty ridiculous.

Wow, I never thought the growing pains would be so painful! Could we just fast forward to next season?...

This just in:

No. 4 Florida 30
Tennessee 6

And UT played at home.

This season could be scary bad.

The Bruins need to play virtually error-free ball to do anything. Our effort today was full of sloppy play: fumbles, dropped balls that should have been caught, poor special teams preparation. Shouldn't film have showed how UofA returns kickoffs? This is a game I thought we'd win. The one bright spot was the beginning of a run game. Coleman was a pleasant surprise and even Chase Moline did okay with 72 yards.

I'm afraid we need to ratchet our expectations down a notch or two. Hopefully the return of Khalil Bell will add some offensive spark.

It will be a long year because the Oline is as bad as everyone said. They are not small, just not good. Dorrell left the line cupboard practically empty.
But it will definitely get better as each game is played----Go Bruins ---It'll all be OK

D. Johnson needs to sit for a while and watch. His poor practices are now reflecting in his poor play during the games. Let a younger more hungry player take his place even if it is a FR. We need to have a better chance of winning.

Well... on the bright side, Mike Stoops will probably keep his job another year. At least we won't have to worry about losing Norm or DeWayne to Arizona.

Anonymous said:

Don't worry about losing Norm. Worry about Norm losing his sanity.

tired of hearing it's all Dorrells fault said:

Ok so Dorrell's gone now. You folks got your way. I'll tell you something, though. As bad as Dorrell was at times, things didn't get THIS bad while he was coach until the quarterbacks (and the rest of the players) all started getting hurt and we were playing with 3rd stringers! And HE was playing with HIS recruits. You can blame everything you want on everyone else you want but time will show that the bottom line is that maybe CRN isn't all that you've made him out to be! This was supposed to be a year of top recruits. They shouldn't be losing this badly.

BradleyBruin Author Profile Page said:

We ARE playing with 3rd stringers all over the place. Where KD really hurt us with the several poor O-line classes. This is a major rebuilding process and we have a major talent gap to fill. It will take some time. What hurts most is the poor special teams coverage. Our secondary is still showing their youth. We can only focus on getting better each week.

VenturaBruin Author Profile Page said:

For any of you that think that Dorrell would have done any better, you're dreamin'. KD did not evaluate and sign good lineman, or at least not enough of them.

At least Neuheisel & Co saw that we needed a QB and landed Craft (who won the Tennessee game), brought in Prince early, and has now verballed Breheut.

If KD were still coach, and with Cowan and Olson's injuries, we'd be playing Forcier or Rasshan.

Even worse, Norvell would be calling the plays.

The only fair way to compare KD vs RN would be over 5 years.

The fact that you're not very good was expected. But why raise expectations so high? Your coaching staff over-promised and has under delivered.

And what was your marketing department thinking? Sticking your chest out when you hadn't played a game? Not smart. t A Rich Rodriquez, low key approach would have suited you better.

You win with great players, not great coaches. Anybody who knows sports will tell you that...

Checked this site to get a sense of what knowledgeable Bruin fans are thinking, but wanted to comment on some Trojan fans foolishly taunting their rivals. Of course, this is dumb, but seems to be part and parcel of the modern sports fan experience.

The same thing goes on over at Scott Wolf's blog, including about 50,000 posts from 2006 that included the term "13-9." The only thing to do is for the classy fans to try and outnumber the loudmouths.

UCLA will be back, although it may be a while.

Would be good to read some reaction from Bruin fans ...

First off I would like to congrats all of the “fake” fans who left the game early. Half of the time it is the fans that help out the boys with our loudness and praises. Now yes, we aren’t getting off to a great start, and personally I think RN came in praising himself a little too much. This is going to be a rebuilding year, and we knew that the day KD was fired. You can’t blame the boys who are from KD. Football is a sport that was taught and learned as young as 6. These boys have been playing long enough and should have enough experience to know how to catch the ball (Austin). My 8 year old cousin can catch the ball better than him!!!!!!!
Craft and OR should have been the two options for the QB spot. OR has the experience ( last yr). My concern is that he isn’t being played because he is KD recruit? He has talent, he should be taking reps, he should be the back up for Craft!!!!

Last, Brian……………Why o Why is Norris ( #22) playing against guys twice his size?!
