Here is the 11th set of answers:
how long have you been doing this blog and has there been a gradual or quick increase in the amount of people accessing this blog?
I started the blog before the 2006 football season, but didn’t take it that seriously until last summer. The hits really picked up during the coaching search in December, and have continued at a pretty good clip. I’ll be honest, it has dipped a little because of UCLA’s poor start to the season, but it is still one of the highest rated parts of the Daily News site.
What happened with shaq evans? he was on cloud 10 for ucla one week and the very next week he soft verballed to usc the very next week? I know these are kids but are we still recruiting him hard if no why not.
I don’t know what happened with him, to be honest. I know he liked UCLA and the school liked him, but something took place. I was told he was pushed into the USC commitment, which he has since taken back, but I don’t think UCLA is going hard after him right now.
Did you watch The Dark Knight yet?
if so what are you thoughts about it? (50 words or less please)
I have not. I should get around to seeing it in another three to five years, when the kids are a little older and I catch up on my sleep. Then, I should be rested and also have enough time to watch a non-animated movie.
Is there any limits on how much recruiting Richard Brehaut can do? I’ve never heard of recruits comitting any recruiting violations themselves, but this is college football as they say.
He can do pretty much whatever he wants, as long as UCLA is not telling him to call kids and be part of the recruiting. But he can say and do plenty of things in trying to get other players to UCLA without it being a violation, especially since he has not yet signed to attend UCLA.
Barring some unforeseen event, is Ward’s switch back to DL permanent?
I think it is because UCLA needs more depth at defensive tackle than on the offensive line right now.
How is Damien Holmes doing in practice?
OK, but I expect him to make a move to defensive tackle for the spring.
How are David Carter and Reginald Stokes progressing? Datone Jones?
Carter is coming along slower than Stokes, who actually is in the defensive end rotation. Jones is understanding the defense, but needs to get stronger and tighter with his technique. But if Tom Blake does not play this weekend, look for Jones and Stokes to get plenty of action.
Who are the coaches higher on, Ward or Siewerski? Ward started a lot of games last year and Siewerski doesn’t seem to do anything on the field.
Siewierski, which is why Ward moved to offense in the first place. But Siewierski has been slowed by a neck injury, which he suffered against BYU. He’s played, but not as effectively as UCLA wants.
Who do you think will start in the secondary next year? I say Verner and Hester at the corners, Moore at FS and Dye at SS.
I think you are correct, unless UCLA lands a big-time corner who can start as a true freshman. But I would not rule out Moore or Dye moving to corner, if need be.
Do you think Rahim Moore will end up a corner? And why are the coaches high on Dye? I don’t have a feel for what kind of player he is.
I think Moore’s best spot is safety, and that is where UCLA would prefer to keep him. The coaches are high on Dye because he is fast, a tremendous athlete, smart and tough.
