Greetings from chilly, Eugene, where the forecast is for cold. The weather folks say it will be 51 degrees at kickoff, and drop down into the low 40s by halftime.
Here’s the notebook I wrote on the offensive line gaining continuity, and the game preview I wrote about what UCLA learned when lost its only other road game this season.
Also, here is the game preview capsule that ran in the paper:
UCLA (2-3, 1-1) a Oregon (4-2, 2-1)
Autzen Stadium, Eugene, Ore., 7:15 p.m.
FSN/570-AM
UCLA WINS IF …A lot goes right, beginning with not becoming unnerved playing at night in toughest environment in the Pac-10. …The offensive line treats the Ducks like its Fresno State’s defense, and runs the ball all over the field and controls the clock. …It dominates the turnover battle. We’re talking being at least a plus-three in turnovers.

PROBABLE
Oregon WINS IF …Offensive coordinator Chip Kelly and coach Mike Bellotti don’t get cute offensively. The Ducks need to spread UCLA’s defense out and let its athletes operate in space. …It is over last weeks’ 44-10 humbling at USC. Reports from practice early in the week were the Ducks had a hangover. …UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel, a disliked person in Eugene, rolls in under the radar and doesn’t get into the heads of the Ducks players and coaches.
