Answers, Part VI

Here is the sixth set:

Diddy Reese or Mrs. Field’s?
Diddy Reese, with a nice big carton of milk.

Why does the staff seemed determined not to give any other quarterback playing time, even to address possible injury to Craft?
I’ll answer it with my own question? With Craft playing the way he is playing and the staff unwilling to make a change, what does that tell you about the other quarterbacks UCLA has on the roster?
In other words, he is, for the length of the season, UCLA’s best shot, by a long shot, to win games.

In your estimation, will Jrue Holiday be able to replace Westbrook? Is that asking too much of him? Westbrook got a lot better as the season progressed. It seems like he might have a better chance of playing to Westbrook’s level at the beginning of the season…and hopefully improving like RW did. Thoughts?
That is asking way, way, way too much. Westbrook was one of the best defenders in the nation, and could beat almost anyone off the dribble. They are two different types of players. As a freshman, Westbrook could barely get on the court.

Are there any indications the administration is disappointed with the team’s performance to date?
No, not really. They knew it was going to be a bad season, which is one of the major reasons AD Dan Guerrero fired Karl Dorrell after last season, which happened to be Dorrell’s best coaching job and also his best recruiting effort. Imagine the backlash if Dorrell was still the coach this season?

No question here, just wanted to let you know that you do an amazing job covering UCLA!
No smart-alec response, then. Just a thank you.

Has there been any discussion about trying to get out of the road game at Texas in 2010? Are we going there just for recruiting purposes?
More important then recruiting purposes is UCLA will get a nice chunk of television change for it, and also some pretty good cash when Texas returns the trip to the Rose Bowl. Just think of it, with the Longhorns coming, the marketing department won’t need to come up with a catchy slogan (for the visiting fans) to fill the Rose Bowl.

In your experience traveling with the team to both the court (ie, B-Ball) and the gridiron which school has:
-the best (ie, spirited yet respectful) fans?
Oklahoma football fans. They weren’t disrespectful, but they had plenty of spirit. Game day in Norman is something to behold.
-the worst fans?
…and how would Oregon fit in?
Oregon has the worst fans. They are rude, vile, disgusting, disrespectful, tasteless …should I go on?

Before moving to TE Nate Chandler #2 at LT behind Kia. If Paulsen doesn’t get injured do you believe it is likely he bcomes the starter and Baca redshirts?
I am not sure about that. Chandler wasn’t adjusting quickly, but that could have been only because he only played the position a few weeks. Baca played it in high school, but was slowed by a knee injury in training camp.

Miracle Grow or Chicken poop?
To eat or grow plants? To grow plants, I go with Miracle Grow. It has that pretty bright blue color. To eat? I must first consult with Andrew Zimmern.
