Here is the seventh set:
Is Dion Sims showing any interest in us at all?
Not worth getting excited about.
When does UCLA's lease of the rose bowl expire? Are there any tentative plans to move else where afterwards?
I believe UCLA signed a 20-year deal about four years ago, and there is no plan to move elsewhere, mostly because there is no where else to move. UCLA does not want to return to the Coliseum and Anaheim is too far.
Can you give us an idea about how many "secret" offers are out there that you know of? Or even a guess? Just curious if it's like 1-3, 4-6, or more.
It is not so much "secret'' offers as just every little thing doesn't need to be reported. And the number is more than a handful.
Kahlil Bell isn't 100%, why do we give him so many consecutive plays? Coleman isn't the best blitz blocker, but he has to learn some time.
Coleman doesn't play more because the coaching staff isn't willing to give up on seniors who want to play and sacrifice the season for marginal gains in experience for next season, especially when it remains to be seen if Coleman is the long-term answer at tailback.
There have been carries that Bell got that if Coleman or Dean got, they probably would've broke for long gain...would you start Coleman this week?
I don't know if Coleman or Dean would have broken them for a long gain, and no, I wouldn't start Coleman because there is a heckuva lot more involved with playing running back than running the football.
UCLA's First Offense Team vs. USC's Second Defense Team or Scout team?
I'll take USC's second-team defense, but not he scout team defense.
You've mentioned before that you don't put much stock into the website recruiting rankings (i.e., five-star recruit). That said, how would you assess DeWayne Walker's talent evaluation to-date (I think he's brough in two classes to date), based on your observations during practices and games?
I like most of the players Walker was involved in recruiting, although there have been a few misses. That said, every coach misses on players. Ben Howland has missed on several in hoops, even the football icon across town has missed on some players. But based on what I see, Walker knows how to evaluate talent, and knows how to be ahead of the curve.
Most underrated Pac 10 football coach and why? Most overrated Pac 10 football coach and why?
Some of my close friends will laugh at this because I was not a Mike Riley fan a few years ago, but I will go with him. I've changed my mind and I am now sold on him. His teams always get better as a season progresses, and to win in at Oregon State is amazing.
Is UCLA going after Hawaii commit Iuta Tepa from Long Beach Poly? He was at the Stanford game and has the grades.
Just because a kid was at the game doesn't mean a school is recruiting him hard. Maybe he just wanted to see a game, and it does UCLA well in the good will and relationship building departments not to turn kids down who wan to come.
Will we throw the ball past 30 yards any times this week?
Sure, they do it warm-ups every week. But if you're talking about once the game kicks off, my hunch (based on seven other games) is no.

I completely agree about Mike Riley. When I first heard he was our leading candidate after Toledo was fired, I wasn't too thrilled. But seeing what he's done at OSU has really changed my mind. The guy can really coach and our program would have been so much better off if DG had given the job to him instead of KD. Based on some of the stuff I've read in UCLA forums, I think underrated is a good description of him. It's simply amazing to me how many people thought KD was a better coach than Riley...even after KD got fired.
And yet, Riley wasn't able to ever beat KD and Ucla, but he did beat sc...and he was also able to get lots and lots of his guys put in jail. Yep, time to short the stock..."irrational exuberance" has been achieved.
