Answers, Part VIII
Here is the eight set:
Why don't we run any WR or RB screens? Cable had a field day with them when he ran them.
I agree that some more should be run than UCLA is running, but it is totally different now than when Cable did it. When Cable did it, Maurice Drew was getting the ball many times. There is no Maurice Drew on this team.
What do you think the Bruins' record would be if Rick Neuheisel, aka "Vest of the West," had worn his signature sweater vest the entire season?
Geez, I would say undefeated. I know I would have UCLA ranked in the top 5 if that were the case. In fact, I think the coordinators should also wear sweater vests.
Embree is a special receiver. Did grayshirting help him become a great college receiver or does he just have a better work ethic than everyone else?
Well, I don't think he's a great college receiver yet. He's had a nice freshman season, and that is all. But he has a tremendous work ethic, and since he's been around the game his whole life, he understands the game better than most players, and far better than most freshman. Gray-shirting allowed him to learn the offense and impress the coaching staff in the spring, which I believe is the reason he was in the rotation early in the season.
Are we just looking at or seriously thinking aout offering Jerry Rice Jr?
Having his dad around could help the program, maybe we could borrow some of his workout regiment and get some pointers for our WR/TE/RB on catching.
From what I understand UCLA is just poking around with him.
Can you please bring it to Coach Neuheisel's attention that the sweater vest equals victories at the Rose Bowl, Thanks!
It'll be the second thing I ask him, right after how he solves the world's financial crisis.
In the last few post-game interviews, Kevin Craft appeared "upset/down". Even after they beat Stanford, I don't think he even cracked a smile during the interview. Is the pressure getting to him or is this just his demeanor?
Does the team still call him "Vanilla Ice"?
I didn't think he was down. That is his personality. He doesn't show any emotion during interviews.
Are we recruiting Brett Leonard? He's had a great season at Saddleback and we could really use someone who could step in at the OL and play from day 1.
Yup. And I hear UCLA has a good shot for him.
If Pete Carrol leaves SC for the 49ers are there any SC commits you see switching over to the good side?
I think a few would leave, as is always the case, but I don't know if any would be willing to travel to New Jersey to play for Rutgers. That is what you meant by the "good side,'' right?
If Craft really is refusing to even look deep why is he in there? Why not just put Forcier in there and have him run around like Masoli did on us?
Craft looks deep, but doesn't throw the ball often. And Forcier may be able to run, but I don't think he can run like Masoli. That kid was incredible. I love how folks think Masoli is so easy to tackle.
What have you heard about Jake Heaps the 2010 QB from WA? I know we offered him awhile back but it doesn't seem like he's that interested in us You'd think having Chow as an OC would be enough to at least get us in the conversation.
I haven't heard very much about Heaps, but mostly because he is a 2010 kid and so much focus is on the 2009 kids. And sometimes kids don't care who the coaches are, they just want to go to a place, or not go to a place.

+10 points to Dohn for the Rutgers comment.
"Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation..."
yeah, nothing says "winning" like 2-5..."win" on, mighty Rutgers
