Here is set No. 15:
As a UCLA fan I am disappointed at how empty the Rose Bowl has looked for some games this year (despite announced attendance). Since we have been getting some commits lately do you feel it is more the lure of immediate playing time, or truly the atmosphere?
It is early playing time, the lure of UCLA as a school, the desire to play close to home and the coaching staff. If it was all about crowds at games, USC never would have recovered from the Paul Hackett error.
how would you assess the play and potential of steve sloan? what are his strengths and weaknesses? from my perspective, he gets blocked and swept out of a lot of plays.
Your perspective is the same as mine (and the coaching staff's), but that is expected out of a red-shirt freshman. If UCLA was healthy, he wouldn't be playing that much. He needs to get stronger and read plays better, which would enable him to make more tackles.
How come the offense only throws "deep" during the 2 minute drill?
Boy, I didn't think they threw deep during the two-minute drill, either.
ESPN is reporting that Lute Olsen is stepping down as head coach. What do you think the chances are that Gaddy switches back to us?
I think there is a very good chance of it. Things seem to happen in a good way for Howland, like J'mison Morgan, and this could be a similar thing.
Our 2009 class (bball) is full of 3 or 4 year guys. Is Howland not going after the one and done superstars as hard on purpose? Could we have a stronger class if Howland was more open to one and dones?
He's going after them, but they have not reciprocated the interest. He signed Jrue Holiday, and I expect him to be a one-and-done kid.
Which of the dozen or so injured impact players are looking to coming back this year and which are looking like they will redshirt? Also, who are the ones who won't be back but can't redshirt? Thanks
I think the supposed impact players will all be red-shirting, and by that I'm guessing you mean guys like Logan Paulsen and Kyle Bosworth. And I don't understand the second part of your question.
What do you think the chances of Coach Howland going to AZ? There is a chance of more money and the media is alot more favorable towards coaches in Tucson.
Well, if the NBA expands to Tucson, I can see it. Otherwise, I have a better chance of coaching at Arizona.
What can you tell us about Kia Forbath overtaking Rotstien for kick-offs?
That it seemed to last for one week because Rotstein handled the kickoffs last week against Stanford.
before he went back to Tucson, Abdul Gaddy was down to UCLA and UofA correct?
Yup.
Many of the UCLA-Related links on the right do not work: UCLA Recruiting class, USC Recruiting class, etc...
Can you ask that these be fixed? Thanks mucho!
I passed it along to the tech guys.
How far does Craft get in his progression in 11-on-11's in practice? One read, two reads, three reads?
All of the above, depending on the play. In practice, the quarterback cannot be hit, so he doesn't have to worry about it.

so the primary receiver is never open in practice?
or Craft never throws to him even if he is open?
sorry, the Q & A show zero knowledge of what a QB does...and that's Football 101.
