Answers, Part XXII
Thanks for all the questions again. Remember, I will open a chat room at 12:15 p.m. today, plus have game information before, during and after on the blog.
Now, here is the last set of answers this week:
Am I safe with UCLA covering 17.5 points?
If I knew that answer, I would have stopped off in Reno or Vegas on my way here. My gut tells me UCLA will cover, but it will be a back door cover.
I heards me some reports that you were responsible for poisoning Lute Olsens fruity pebbles. Is it because you like capn crunch better or is it that you are just a ucla homer?
I couldn't believe he would eat Fruity Pepples, and it annoyed me. Geez, a guy that age should understand the value of Peanut Butter Capn' Crunch, and if he needed to go with some other type of cereal, why not Cocoa Pepples? Then you get to drink the chocolate milk afterward. Geez, it makes me SOOO Mad!!!! Um, but no, I had nothing to do with it.
Amazing what a win does, eh? A few weeks ago you mentioned the coaching staff poring over JC players, looking for the hidden gem...or two. Any indication of how that's going?
It is amazing what a win does because this may have been the most popular week in the blog's history. As for the coaching staff and JUCO's, they continue to look at things. The problem they are having is finding JUCO's that can play at a high level, and also can get past the admission's department. I heard some of the players they liked were nixed by admissions, so the scouting and evaluating continues.
basketball: Who do you think would be a better get, Gaddy or Snaer? Why? Thanks Brian, I'm a huge fan!
I think Gaddy would be better because he can come in and play the point if Jrue Holiday leaves.
Don't you think we should use the no-huddle more often? Giving the defense a little less rest is a small price to pay for scoring more points, especially since moving the ball keeps the D off field longer than our chronic three-n-outs.
I asked UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel about that Sunday, and here is what he said:
"Certainly there is some thought to that, but you have to remember what you are doing to your defense when you go out and try to do that. You are leaving them exposed in terms of time on the field. You just can't that, nor, do defenses play the same as they do at the end of a half, so you are not guaranteed to have the same results.''
with over a half million hits per month to your blog, how do u feel about that many people wanting to read what u write? do u think youll get a star on the hollywood walk of fame? i hope so. =D
I'm excited that many people read it. It makes me want to put more effort into it and give it the proper attention. It also shows me there are more hard-core UCLA fans than I thought. As for the star, I already have one there. Granted, I had to paint it myself and it's off-off-off Hollywood, but that is our secret.
with 3 of the remaining 5 games to be on ABC/ESPN, and the other 2 still TBA, is there possibly a shift towards more ESPN coverage? (fox didnt even have a yellow first down line!!!) do u think we can help push that through in some way?
That is the chore of the new commissioner, whomever that will be. I think getting better national visibility for this conference is very important.
Nicholas Montana, Joe Montana's son from Oaks Christian, is there a possible UCLA connection? I believe he was at one of UCLA's football camps a few yrs ago, does Joe Montana Like UCLA? Maybe because QB coach Steve Clarkson is from L.A. area?
There isn't a connection outside of the normal stuff in which he went to a camp at UCLA and I know a few of the former Bruins coaches liked him. But I don't know of any special connection between the Montanas and UCLA.
Is Nicholas Montana even playing that much at Oaks Christian?
He's the starting quarterback for a 7-0 team and is completing nearly 55 percent of his passes for 13 touchdowns, and three interceptions.

Hits to your blog are not the same thing as visits. One visit can generate fifty hits (Hits are not really a useful metric for anything but a techie).
So how many visits is the blog getting?
personally, if gaddy wasn't so good, i would rather take a sg since we should have malcolm and jerime who can both run the point. either snaer or gaddy is gravy for me, but i think we'll ultimately have to look elsewhere if howland really wants to finish the class with one last guard. don't see either committing to us
