Game Day

UCLA wants to be like USC, and at least today, the Bruins will live like the Trojans usually do.
Also, here is the notebook I wrote for today's paper, as well as the USC notebook, which has something about USC coach Pete Carroll possibly committing a recruiting violation in regards to a player USC and UCLA are both recruiting.
Finally, the preview capsule that ran in the paper is below.

UCLA WINS IF ...It doesn't freak out over being a 17- to 19-point favorite and plays hard and with a purpose. ...QB Kevin Craft does not reverts to first-half Tennessee form and turns the ball over a bundle of times. ...The Bruins build on the offensive momentum established in last week's loss to Fresno State, when the running game churned out 234 yards.

Washington State WINS IF ...UCLA remembers its history, which includes losing six of the last seven games to the Cougars, including three straight at the Rose Bowl. ...The Cougs sudden forget who they are, namely a team that has lost to Cal and Oregon by a combined 129-17. And those games were at home. ...UCLA's defense trips all over itself in letting Wazzu into the end zone, and the offense turns the ball over at least four times.
