Answers, Part 15

Here is the XV-th set:

Will there be another live chat feature during the OSU game? Do you see that as a regular feature for basketball, too?
Yes, and yes.

From what you hear is Brehaut talented enough to lead us to a pac10 championship? Are the coaches putting a lot of faith that he’s the one?
From my understanding, the coaches really like him. But whether he is good enough to lead UCLA to a Pac-10 championship is sort of a silly question because it takes so much more than that. In other words, put Carson Palmer, as a senior, on this UCLA team and I don’t think he could lead them to a Pac-10 championship. More parts (many more parts) are needed.

Is Brehaut really good or just the best that was available?
I know he wasn’t UCLA’s first choice, but of the quarterbacks available who were genuinely interested, he was the best, in the coaching staff’s minds.

If the academic commitee authorizes a formal written offer to a recruit, does that guarantee that the recruit will be admitted to the university provided he maintains his grades during his senior year in high school?
It is never an iron-clad deal, but it is pretty close to it.

Why does Coach Rick wear a navy blue sweater vest during games even though the official color is more of a sky or royal blue?
Maybe he wants to disassociate himself with the offense as much as possible, but still wear some shade of blue so he is loosely affiliated with the school. Or, maybe, he is a closet Cal fan.

Nice article on Justin Mann. Did teams refrain from offering him a scholarship because of his diabetic condition or was it because of other physical factors?
Thanks for the nice words. I don’t think his diabetes played a role in not getting a scholarship offer. Sometimes things happen and kids don’t get scholarships, but I know UCLA is hoping this kid develops into a really good player.

Better chance with Teo, or Kennard? I’m assuming UCLA does not have a realistic chance with either.
I will say Kennard because he is injured and if UCLA shows him all the love, he may feel an allegiance to that.

How does Prince look in practice compared to Craft? Is Prince less comfortable with the offense than Craft is?
It is no longer possible to compare Craft and Prince because Prince is running scout team offense, which means he isn’t doing anything with UCLA’s offense any more.

The basketball schedule online says the home game vs. Notre Dame is 10 a.m. at Pauley..is this correct and why so early??
Ahhh, the wonders of network television. Crumpets and tea at tip-off, anyone?

Do you see one of the hoops commitments (Honeycutt, Nelson, Lane, Stover) redshirting their first year, especially if Moser also chooses to enroll?
I think it is a distinct possibility although I’m not sure which one would red-shirt.
