Before I get to the 10th set, can someone please answer one of my questions?
Is Captain Phil out on the Bering Sea? Or did he have to take the King Crab season off?
Now, onto the 10th set:

likelihood of myles wade and ucla coming together? grades?
Below 50 percent.

In your opinion, which UCLA offensive lineman has performed the best in games this year.
Geez, that’s an impossible one. I’ll go with Nick Ekbatani.

Could you see UCLA switching Darius Savage back to DT next year given the lack of depth at that position?
I don’t see that happening because UCLA lacks depth on the offensive line as well. And there are some candidates to play defensive tackle.

Do you see any possibility that UCLA goes with a 3-4 alignment on defense next season?
Not unless there is a chance in the defensive coordinator. I don’t see DeWayne Walker changing his defensive philosophy because of he is missing a defensive tackle like Brigham Harwell. Plus, I don’t know if the linebacker depth would allow for a 3-4.

how does EJ Woods look for the scout team?
Very good. I believe he is going to be a really good player. He has very good speed and can hit.

Can’t remember exact season (09? 10?), but you seem optimistic about the future for football when compared to now. Is this because of team core being 07/08 signees? Because of who’s expected to sign in 09? Coaching staff quality? Pac-10 weakness? These reasons and more?
The reason I am optimistic is because the talent has to get better, and the guys playing now are gaining valuable experience. Factor in a much more favorable schedule, good coaching and a staff that likes to recruit, and I think next season UCLA should be a bowl team easily.

We have always started strong but faded in January as the prized recruits went elsewhere. It seems with 13 recruits already in the fold is this year going to be the year that we change that trend??
That remains to be seen. If Neuheisel is the charismatic recruiter UCLA says he will be, that will be the case. However, getting high school kids to buy into coming to a losing program rather than go to USC, or another high-level program, isn’t as easy as turning on the charm in the living room.

Will CRN be able to sign the stud olinemen to fill the talent void??
I don’t know, but if he wants to make UCLA a contender for the Pac-10 title, that is where it needs to start.

If Craft struggles against Oregon State, do you think Olson will start the next game? Does Olson give UCLA a better chance to win or is his lack of reps in practice going to prevent him from starting any games this year?
No. Olson hasn’t taken a real rep since training camp, and trying to put in a game plan and give him the reps in three days time is not a good idea. I think the best chance for Olson to start is at Arizona State. It comes after a bye week, and if UCLA splits its next two games it will not yet be eliminated from bowl consideration.

Have football practices looked more intense than usual this week?
Nope. In fact, I think the intensity is down from a month ago.
