Answers, Part I

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. Mine was great, and thanks for all the well wishes for me and my family. Now, onto business.
I know I’ve deleted at least five questions already that exceeded the 50-word limit. (I’m amazed how many people still don’t get it when I say I will not answer that are longer.)
I’m not sure how many sets of answers today, but I’m thinking at least 12. Not a a crazy amount, I think because of the holiday, but a substantial number anyway.
Now, here is the first set:

How are the freshman basketball players adjusting to life at UCLA?
They are not having a problem off the court. Everything is made for it to be a simple transition, and three of the players are from SoCal, so the impact of moving is minimized. As for Drew Gordon (San Jose) and J’mison Morgan (Dallas), their personalities are such that I cannot see them having trouble. Both are gregarious kids, who seem to make themselves feel at home immediately.

Beer of choice?
It hurts me to say this since I am a Liverpool guy, but Newcastle is my choice.

Is UCLA planning a big Junior football day near before signing day. I know USC got a lot of kids very early last year and had them on campus for a day.
Yes, they are. In fact, I would be surprised to hear of a BCS school that did not have a junior day sometime in January or February.

A year ago, you wrote that BYU and Utah don’t belong in the Pac-10…do you still feel that way?
Yes, I do, regardless of the results from this season. They are teams that traditionally struggle with the low-tier Pac-10 teams. Yes, BYU smoked UCLA, but that is the same BYU team that defeated Washington by one point. Utah beat Oregon State this year, but doing it over a long span of time is a different matter.

Any word on Damien Holmes? I would love to see him bulk up to around 280 and back-up at DT next year and start as a RS-SO.
I think his future will be at defensive tackle, and he has a chance to play next season as a backup. I talked to UCLA’s staff, and they said they were satisfied with Holmes’ progress. They weren’t wowed, but they weren’t disappointed. They said he needed to get stronger, which is common rhetoric when discussing freshman.

ASU fizzle
Bruins maybe clicking?
Possible upset?
It is possible
ASU is not very good
Much like the Bruins

Cal basketball media guide listed Nican Robinson on their roster as formerly from UCLA. When did he ever was on our basketball roster? Was he a walk-on?
He was a walk-on who was from Oakland.

Whatever happened to Nick Crissman? Is he going to be in the running next year?
He had surgery a few months ago to repair a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder. He is hoping to be ready for spring practice, but I do not see him factoring into the quarterback derby next season.
