Answers, Part III

Here is the third set:

How were the Rutgers games you planned to attend last weekend? Also, who is considered Rutgers’ fiercest, most hated rival?
It was great to be back there. Despite the 32 degree temperature at kickoff (20 degrees windchill), the stadium was filled and it was nice to sit and watch Rutgers win a game easily. I still can’t get used to that feeling.
As for hoops, they are not very good. They have some young talent, but I’m not sure the coach knows how to coach. It will be interesting to see.
As far as Rutgers’ fiercest rival, that is a problem. There really isn’t one. In football, UConn is developing into it (by the way, UConn football fans rival Oregon fans in terms of classlessness).
Until the 1980s, Princeton was Rutgers’ biggest rival. The campuses are 12 miles apart, and on the same road.

Whilst covering a game do you listen to either the radio or TV broadcast?
Very rarely. I usually like to watch the game and form my own opinions. But I do talk to the broadcasters are the game, when possible.

considering the lack of speed at DE, what has bear with me!! chinoso uwayanwu not got a sniff in specialty situations before his ailment?
Because Anyanwu isn’t good enough to play defensive end for a prolonged period in a game. He’s not a great speed guy, even with his build.

Are there plans to have a new kick-off kick er next season? I know forbath is not consistent, but he has got to be able to kick it deeper than our walk-on.
Not unless Kai Forbath or Jeff Locke improve. Jimmy Rotstein may not kick the ball deep, but at least he kicks it in-bounds and where it is supposed to go. During practice, the other guys do not do that. Otherwise, they would be kicking off.

If Neuheisel was granted one wish by the AD or the administration to make UCLA FB better, and they’d do whatever he asked, what do you think he’d wish for?
The admissions folks being much more lenient when it comes to allowing kids into school.

What are the rules governing access to players? For example, if you see a player eating lunch at Panda Express, can you talk to him?
If I want to talk to him, yes, I will. I won’t conduct an interview, per se, but I will either just chat with him, or if I have a question I want answered, I will ask it. I’m not going to ignore people and be impolite.

I know this is a Bruin blog but you are the one person I can ask about soccer so…What is your impression of the young players Bob Bradley played against Guatemala?
I really liked the way Freddy Adu looked, and I’m jazzed about Altidore. The most exciting thing for me, even as a Galaxy fan, is Landon Donovan heading to Europe. He needs to learn how to show up throughout games, rather than spurts, and this should be more of a challenge.

Does Addidas make newer basketball jerseys too? It seems like ours are old compared to the ones Syracuse, Georgetown, etc. wear. Also, is that fit better or worse looking to you?
Adidas should make whatever a school wants. But I don’t see coach Ben Howland messing with UCLA’s jersey. He is a traditionalist in that respect. As for the second part of the question, I have no idea what you are talking about.

If Howland had gotten guard Abdul Gaddy, do you think he would have still gone after Moser?
I think so. Scholarship limitations always have a way of working itself out. If UCLA went over the scholarship limit, someone would transfer, or another player would leave early.
