Aboya and Moser
Here is a story I wrote about UCLA senior Alfred Aboya, his family's health issues, and why it was so difficult for him to decide whether to return for a fourth season or play professionally.
Here is a comment from Aboya, which was not in the story, about how his father is doing in controlling his high blood pressure, and the challenges of doing so in Cameroon.
"Cameroon, the food that we eat, it's got a lot of salt in it,'' Aboya said. "The big thing with him was to change his diet. Food with no salt really has no flavor, and food like that makes it really hard for him to keep up with the diet.''
Also, below is the story I wrote on UCLA's latest commit, Grant High of Portland's Mike Moser, who signed his letter of intent. For some reason, it was not online.
A week after unveiling its recruiting class, UCLA men's basketball program grabbed another top-rated recruit when former Arizona-bound forward Mike Moser decided to sign a national binding letter of intent with the Bruins.
Moser, a highly rated player from Grant High of Portland, backed out of his commitment with the Wildcats after Lute Olson retired last month.
"Coach Howland, he's a great, great coach,'' Moser said. "He's all about defense and discipline. He takes players and makes them better.''
Moser made the decision on the last day of the early signing period. He also was considering USC, Oregon and Oregon State.
He joins a UCLA class with Sylmar High wing Tyler Honeycutt, power forwards Reeves Nelson from Modesto Christian and Brendan Lane of Rocklin High and center Anthony Stover of Los Angeles Windward.

This is

Brian great story on Aboya!!!
Excellent story. Alfred sounds like the perfect example of a student-athlete. And props to Coach Howland for altering practice to fit Aboya's class schedule.
And thanks, Brian, for the great indepth articles you put out over the course of the season.
Brian,
I was really moved by your article on Alfred. Is there any way we can help his family without violating NCAA rules? It seems a shame his family has to struggle so much...
