Answers, Part I

| | Comments (1) |

Morning, folks. Lots of questions this week again, but I'm not sure how many sets of answers today. I'm thinking of at least 15 with a few segments spilling over to Saturday. Also, I will have an update later today on football recruiting.
Now, onto the first set of answers:

Ben Olsen healthy
Kevin Craft plays like female
When does Olsen start?
Looks like ASU
If Olson's foot is fixed
To give offensive jolt

Brian: With winter/rainy season around the corner, will you continue to wear crocs?
Always. Crocs are the way to go. Like the mailmen, neither rain, nor sleet nor dead of night, will keep my feet from feeling tight (in crocs).

Do you think Micah Kia will regain his starting job next yseason?
Nope. I think he is destined to remain a backup, unless injuries happen.

Does it bother you to answer "what if" questions? cause I sure don't like reading them, hence why I starting not to like the q&a...
Yes, I despise "what if'' questions.

How long does the signing period for Basketball last?
This one ends Nov. 19, and another takes place in the spring. However, players can sign scholarship papers.

Do you think we have a shot with Moser or is he going to be like Gaddy and stay close to home in Oregon?
I think UCLA has a very good shot with Moser. In talking to him, I got the sense he was leaning, ever-so-slightly, toward UCLA, but at the end of the day sometimes it is difficult to get kids away from home.

Did Luc finish his degree before he went off to the NBA? If not, any plans to come back and get it?
My understanding was he did not finish his degree, but has plans to come back and finish it.

Is Moser going to continue to shop and wait until after the early signing period to sign?
His mom told me he would decided in the next week, and Moser told me he was "50-50" about deciding during the early period. If I had to guess, I say he decides early.

If Howland had to do it again, do you think he would have red-shirted Mata-Real last year to save him for this year?
No, because Mata-Real was needed to play to help UCLA get to the Final Four. The question is whether he wished he red-shirted Mata-Real as a freshman, and I think he would have liked to, but there was no one else to play.

I apologize for being so picky, I really do appreciate all your hard work, and I'm especially fond of the haiku...for whatever reason, they're fun.

This one doesn't quite fit. If you change offensive to offense, you could make it work.

You're awesome, thanks for all the reporting and info you sling our way.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
