Here is the third set:

does Notre Dame have the rule in which a verbal commitment of theirs cannot visit another school w/out losing his offer to ND? If so, did Stockton schedule the visit here not knowing the rule. In the end do you think he visits us?
I don't know if Notre Dame operates that way, but in this climate of recruiting, I don't think that is a very good policy. Of course, nothing Charlie Weis does would surprise me since all I hear from people that know him is how controlling and difficult he is to deal with. And I don't know if Stockton will officially visit. I think it can go either way.

What is the funniest thing Neuheisel has said to you?
Ooohh, I can't repeat such a thing.

Brian, how exactly do coaches 'pressure' kids into commitments?
Coaches can tell them to either commit in the next 48 or 72 hours of they will pull a scholarship offer because another kid is waiting, or they will offer two players from the same position but tell each player only one commitment will be accepted, so whichever kid commits first gets the scholarship. Those are a few of the tricks.

You're not on Wikipedia's list of notable Rutgers alums. Does that make you burn with a scarlet rage?
Nah, with a school as great as Rutgers, there are many more notable graduates than me. Plus, with humility being a trait of a Rutgers grad, there is no way I could be Scarlet with rage.

Who is the guy that Kevin Craft comes over to on the sidelines after every play?
I don't know. I don't watch him on every play. But my guess is one of the graduate assistants or a member of the non-coaching staff to get the next play.

as a college football fan, whats your opinion on the UMich situation. It just seems to me that coach Rod. is a great coach, but he does not fit UMich well.
I think Rich Rodriguez will do well at Michigan and get it moving in the right direction, but the administration did the players already in the program a great disservice by hiring him. Rodriguez is going to run his offensive system, and it is not possible to tinker with the system to adapt it to Michigan's personnel. So this season's struggles were inevitable.

How actively does Howland recruit top players from outside the West Coast?
Very often. He goes after most of them, but his success rate isn't nearly as high as with kids from the West Coast.

What is the status of potentially upgrading Spaulding Field to have a more grand entrance and offices on the Northwest corner just across from the locker room?
In the wishing stage, at best. Renovating Pauley Pavilion much be done first, and we all know how long it has taken to get basically nowhere with that project.

Brian, any thoughts on only 4 African American head coaches left at universities?
I think it is a travesty and tells me the NCAA still has leaps and bounds to go before equality in running programs is achieved.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
