Answers, Part VI

Here is the sixth set of answers:

Has Chow been as good of an offensive coordinator as you thought he would be?
Yes, but it is impossible to see this season unless one is able to watch practice and speak to Chow regularly.

Do you think BH will still try to land a pg in this class? Who are they recruiting?
I think he will monitor the situation throughout the winter and see if Jrue Holiday is leaving for the NBA.

How does Kevin Prince look in practice?
He throws a nice arm, has good arm strength and works his feet ok. However, he's running scout team now, so it looks sloppy since he is learning a new offense every week.

How does the talent at Oregon State compare to UCLA? Much superior, slightly superior?
I don't know. I don't watch Oregon State regularly to know how their two-deep and other non-starters do. But I do know when it comes to talent that plays every Saturday, Oregon State has markedly more talent.

Does Craft always throw to his first read in practice?
No, which makes his decision-making in games more perplexing. But that isn't to say he doesn't make his share of poor decisions during practice.

Who is the best O-lineman this year?
Wow. I can't answer that. I don't think anyone qualifies.

Going out on a limb here, what FB position did you play in High school?
I did not play.

Do Ben Howland and Phil Jackson ever talk shop?
Got me.

Would you take UCLA's hoops recruiting classes this year and last year, or UNC's?
Based purely on talent, I would take UCLA's classes. Based on how long said players will be in school, and what it can mean in three years, I'm leaning toward Chapel Hill.

At one point you wrote that Howland cooled on the Wears and stopped pursuing them. But then you later said that he went after them hard and was "stunned" when they went to UNC. So which is it?
He cooled for a big, and when UCLA got back on them, the Wears committed to UNC, which stunned UCLA's coaching staff. Does that make sense? Sorry for the confusion.

Do you have an opinion on Larry Drew vs. Jerime Anderson and whether Howland made the right move taking the latter?
Not really. I would have gone with Anderson.

During the Washington game, I noticed Forbath wearing one white shoe and one blue shoe. Nothing unusual about that for a kicker. But the white--ie, normal--shoe was on his kicking foot! What's up with that?
Well, I'm no reporter -- oh, wait, I am - so that tells me his so-called "normal'' shoe is the blue one.

What are the strengths and weaknesses of Glen Love and EJ Woods? If the 09 season started next week, who appears more ready to be a starter along side rahim moore?
Love's biggest weakness is durability, and not busting assignments. Woods is on scout team, so I'm not sure what the coaches think of him in-depth because they don't watch him much. But I think the guy most suited to start next to Moore is Tony Dye. And Woods may wind up playing linebacker.
