Answers, Part XVI

The answers continue. There will be three sets of them posted today, and here is set No. 16 (overall):

Completely understand Prince's greeness & the redshirt, but how much worse could he look than Craft has?
Much worse, and if you do not know protection calls and cannot recognize defenses, the potential to get hurt is elevated.

Back to the "What if" game, how much worse could an activated, true freshman Hester be over Norris? He's an easy mark for any opposition's aerial attack....
You would be stunned what true freshman can do if they are not ready to play. He could be markedly worse because he doesn't know the tricks receivers know. Plus, Hester never played zone in high school, and one busted coverage could result in a touchdown from anywhere on the field. Better talent isn't always the answer.

You've been named the director of the next James Bond movie, and you must select the next Bond, Bond Villian, and the villain's henchmen, from current UCLA football and basketball players. Who are picking for these roles?
I'm taking Howland as the villain, Alterraun Verner as the hero and Alfred Aboya, Brigham Harwell, Brian Price and the Bosworth twins as the villian's henchmen. Wow, what a great question.

would you rather cover great players or great stories?
Great stories, by a landside, because they really inspire others.

Why do so many of our basketball players shoot much worse free throw percentages in their freshman year than they did in high school?
I don't know, but I get the sense it's because they are so winded from playing the style Howland demands that they lose concentration at the line.

Do you think Ben Howland is mad at the fact that Miami (oh) was able to play us down to the very last seconds?
No, I think he was relieved to win. In talking to him at various points of the last month, he was truly concerned about Miami because of the coach, the style and the veteran players.

What do parents do on offical visit while thier child is being taken to parties and staying with thier host?
Probably hitting the clubs on the Sunset Strip.

Will you be at a conflict of interest covering UCLA if your kids become (obsessive) UCLA fans?
No, but I don't think I have to worry about that. My nearly 3-year-old knows most of the Rutgers fight song, and enough of the players' names to make me even more proud of him.

Your nailed it with the Bosworth Twins Brian! Im not so sure as ATV being the hero, I'm thinking a gavin ketchum would be pretty good in that role. Nice shot at Howland by the way

Why does everyone keep talking about the veteran experience of Miami Ohio? They had three senior starters just like the Bruins.

So the question about Bruins in a Bond movie is "great", but the one about basketball players with football potential is "silly". Are you competing with Greg Hicks to see who can be more abrasive to his readers?

Miami of Ohio returned a team that had 132 combined starts from last year's team. It was pretty much the same team that played and lost by a couple of buckets to SC at Anaheim. Bramos, Hayes, Moosman, Pollitz, Ballard and Dierker all logged in heavy minutes last year and played heavy minutes against UCLA.

The Redhawks returned 6 out of 7 of their top scorers as well. They weren't just put together overnight. They've been together for a while.

UCLA returned players who had 89 combined starts and only 3 out of their top 7 scorers.

UCLA has more talent. Higher rated recruiting classes and 3 straight FFs. We all know the details, but it's going to take more than the freshmen putting on UCLA jerseys to get them to play like seasoned vets.
