Kia finding home at guard?

| | Comments (0) |

Tackle Micah Kia may have found a home at left guard, though no one can ever really get too comfortable in any position on this offensive line with the constant changes. In the wake of Darius Savage's season-ending ankle surgery, Kia and Sonny Tevaga are working out at left guard to spell Scott Glicksberg, who has been working there with the first unit all week. Rick Neuheisel said Wednesday that he was watching Kia briefly and thought he did well.
``It's not surprising because (Kia's) got a tackle body,'' Nick Ekbatani said. ``He did a good job. He has quick feet. He reacts really quick. That's the biggest thing at guard. You have to react really quick. Maybe he found his natural position.''

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
