More disbelief
UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel said the Bruins' defense played "valiantly" after it allowed 122 total yards in the loss to Arizona State.
"They kept Arizona State's offense in check, and really were terrific,'' Neuheisel said."I don't know if I've been around a game where the four touchdowns scored by the opponent were all off turnovers."

Nothing lies like statistics or numbers. Arizona State did not have to accumulate any yards or take any chances on offense, it was not necessary. And ASU did not have the ball much. Also, the Sun Devils' defense accounted for mucho yards with its interceptions and fumble recovery.
Additionally, the final score is deceiving, looking like a blow-out. With about 9 minutes to go ucla was in the game, 17-9 and driving for a possible tying touch and 2-pointer. If Craft could take back that reverse 100-yarder ucla could have won that game, and poor Craft would not be so terribly reviled today.
Finally, I think poster Sid should become the new ucla football coach; that guy knows his stuff unlike the rest of us on this blog.

I have a hard time blaming Craft for the fumble return, but those three picks were terrible. Why is it that he'll only pass to a receiver if they are double covered?
How about we let our defense play offense. They couldn't play any worse!!!
Anon,
When defenses only rush 4 guys (which is all they usually need to get pressure), they have 7 players available to cover the 3-4 players UCLA sends out on pass routes. So the reality is...virtually every UCLA receiver is double covered on any given play. Craft usually has no choice but to throw into double-coverage, since he almost NEVER has enough time to go through his entire progression and identify the receiver who might only be in single coverage.
