More on the commit
Here is what Keith Miller, an assistant coach at Southwest LA College and a mentor to Compton College defensive tackle Branden Warner, said UCLA's newest commit is agile and quick. Warner is originally from Atlanta.
"He's a guy that competes with the defensive backs in drills because he is so quick," Miller said. "He's got good footwork and change of direction. Those are the kind of athletes we don't usually see out here on the West Coast. He's one of those Southeast defensive tackles that has unreal athleticism and agility to go along with his play-making ability."

Thats what we need!
That's just the way we like 'em; mobile, agile, and hostile.
Will he qualify and pass admissions? I have heard it is tough to get Juco kids through admissions.
I would imagine the coaching staff thinks he should get in or else they would not have offered him.
His transcripts were sent over yesterday and so he must have gotten the oK.
There is a program at L.A. Valley College called the PACE program. It claims that it has a 98% success rate of students being accepted into UCLA upon completion of this program. I don't know if it exists at other JC's, but would be a worthwhile program to follow if you want to get a kid in at UCLA. It just might be the loophole that coaches are looking for. They would have to start the program immediately upon enrolling at a JC, high school players need to be aware of this. If it can get a player into UCLA, it can more than likely get them into any other university.
Anon,
The exact opposite is true. The UC system, all campuses, are geared to accept JuCo graduates. The junior class at UCLA and all UC campuses is much larger than the freshman class.
By the way, if the JuCo player is currently a sophomore the NCAA requires that they must have their AA degree to qualify to transfer.
These are the kinds of players that we need right now. It's awesome that we can get a boost from the JUCO ranks!!!
The SoCal JC ranks have some of the best JC football played in the country. It's a hotbed of talent if you can get guys that can qualify. Marcus Steele comes to mind who played at LBCC, USC and the Cowboys came from Ohio to play ball in SoCal like Branden Warner from Georgia. I think it's a great way to go to add depth, talent and mature bodies to a team that needs all of the above. Great get for UCLA.
