Oklahoma 3 spots ahead of Texas? Texas beat them pretty convincingly, and since TT is your #1, Texas has the better loss.
Brian, how does Texas Tech leapfrog Alabama?
I understand Texas Tech beating the top team in the country, but Alamaba beat a team 35-0, more than doing what is asked of them. It seems like your ratings are based on knee-jerk recations, rather than the body of work of the season.
5DOLLAR, alabama beat arkansas state while texas tech took out the #1 team in the country
Texas Tech #1, yes. But Texas played four top ten teams in a row and beat three of them, losing only in the last seconds to Texas Tech AT Texas Tech. The best three teams I've seen this year are Texas, Texas Tech and Oklahoma (lost to Texas AT Texas). I can understand most of your poll, Brian, but to drop Texas, after all that, five spots down for losing on the road to your#1 team doesn't make sense to me.
Amm,
I know who Alabama played. My point was that, if you want to have integrity of your rankings, which is what Dohn's ballot is for him, you can't have one team leap frog another when the one team did what was asked of them. I can see moving TT up from No. 6 to No. 4 after beating Texas. But No. 2 Alabama (won by 35 pts) and No 4 Oklahoma (won 62-28) did what was asked of them, and you can't penalize them for that, which is what you are doing when you leap frog TT over all of them.
Otherwise, your rankings just become a knee-jerk reaction from week to week.
Brian, please explain why you put Oklahoma higher than Texas despite Texas beating them on a neutral field.
what's wrong with a knee jerk reaction? Everyone complains every year that it's impossible for teams with poor starting rankings to move up. If people don't react to wins, then that will never happen. Alabama and OU will have plenty of chances to jump back up; and last week, Tech was the best team in the country. They beat a great Texas team, and deserve to be rewarded.
I'm a little confused about OU being ahead of Texas though
i don't complain
the fact that alabama and oklahoma "did what was asked of them" is meaningless for ranking them this week. the only reason they were in front of texas tech before this week is because they started the season there. why did they start the season in front of the red raiders? because people thought they would be better? big whoop. texas tech has done what was asked of them all year, too, against a FAR tougher schedule than bama - and beating the same texas team that took out OU.
i could -somewhat- see an argument for keeping bama in front of texas tech. but to say tech's no better than #4 suggests to me that you're just trying to ruffle some feathers. that, or maybe you just don't like pirates and therefore mike leach bothers you.
