UCLA will host a recruiting weekend for some of out-of-state prospects the weekend of the USC game. Among those scheduled to come in are Notre Dame commit Tyler Stockton (DT), Miami commit Billy Sanders (TE), Utah commit Siosaia Tuipulotu (DT) and Ohio State commit James Jackson (WR). I have more on it in Tuesday's paper.

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
Does UCLA have a chance with any of these recruits or is UCLA just wasting money giving them all a free trip?
Those are some big name. If we can get even one of those guys to turn to UCLA, it would be huge.

The meeting with Tevaga is Tuesday.
Recruiting is a two-way street. These teenagers are sizing up various schools for themselves, and besides, it is interesting traveling around the country to different campuses. The atmosphere is different at Notre Dame as opposed to Oregon, although both are neat.
And what better way to break kids into a college football atmosphere than the SC-ucla game? If they can't get jacked for this rivalry then they'd probably be better off going somewhere else anyway.

Dial it down a few notches. Even if one of them changed his mind about coming to the visit after Brian got his information it isn't the end of te world. Brian would have found this out later and told everyone. Relax Jack!!

I talked to Charlie Weis this morning. He said there is no way Tyler is coming cause he just ate him.
This morning I talked to Reggie Bush and he said neither he nor his family accepted any illegal benefits. I also talked to Brett Favre and he said he is going to retire. I wish people would stop having poor journalism and start reporting their facts straight.

I talked to Tippacanoe yesterday, and he said he and Tyler will be coming together as a package deal.
