Olson done?
UCLA QB Ben Olson said a CT-scan of his foot showed the break in his fifth metatarsal is not yet completely healing, which likely will end an hope he will come back this season. It means his UCLA career is likely over. I will have more on it in Wednesday's paper.

Bummer.
Best of luck to you in the future Ben, whatever you choose to do...
what a sad career (in the literal sense, not the stupid troll sense).
Is this a surprise to anyone? If so, it shouldn't be.
PB
Its not a surprise. You making a comment in bad taste isn't either.
What did I say that was in bad taste?
I simply asked a question...and you agreed with me???
of course it is not a surprise but you don't need to say that...sorry it never worked out for this guy.
Like EXbruins said, kicking someone when they're down is bad taste.
Is he the biggest bust ever in college?
well he wasn't that bad when he wasn't injured. so i don't know if you can count injury as a bust.
Clever.
Enough with the "bad taste" thing....
I also feel bad for Ben having to play behind a sub-par O-Line and getting pounded game after game...week after week! It's not just Ben either. Look at Pat Cowan...collapsed lung....C'mon! Craft is getting worked over just like Pat and Ben did in the past. Perhaps you don't agree, but I don't think it should be a surprise that Ben can't get healthy.
I have watched every snap of every game for years and having seen what the UCLA QBs have gone through in 2006, 2007 and 2008. My only point is this...having seen what they went through in games, read of two non-contact foot injuries, knee ligaments, ankles, concussions, broken fingers. That is just off the top of my head...what did I miss?
Perhaps you thought I was being insensitive or hurtful, but I think I am a realist stating the obvious.
What part of "of course its not a surprise" did you not understand?
And if its obvious, why does it need to be stated? That doesn't make you a realist...
And it certainly doesn't make you tactful...
Ben never had a chance to develop under a coach that was a good guy, but in a little over his head. That was the big issue with SPJ.
Ben - I'm guessing you'll never see this, but I know that I speak for most of us Bruins when I wish you the best of luck with whatever you do in the future and give you my sympathy that things never worked out for you on the field.
I wish Document Review John/OnlytheFALSE would weigh in on this. They usually offer the most insight and best perspective on a given situation. Besides VB anyway...
Time for some VB insight.
BEN OLSEN IS DONE!!!! WOOO HOOOO!!!! Let's move on people!!!!!
Right on cue...
There now that was in bad taste.
After checking all the documentation on the internets and doing some apples to apples comparisons Ben was in fact the biggest bust ever in college football.
Not a bigger bust than Whitney Lewis.
When Olson played he did o.k.; most would say he was better than Kevin Craft. If he had not been chronically hurt I would say he would have had a pretty fair career. The fact he was hurt does not equate to a player getting a chance and not carrying the day with it.
Olson had a 'hard-luck career' is the way I would describe it. And he had a better college football career than I did (a mere SC walk-on) or 99% of the ucla posters.
He can brag to his grandchildren one day that he once started at quarterback for the great ucla bruins.
I just spoke with Ben, he feels great and is plannign on starting the next game!
P.S. Another case of poor journalism, good thing I am here to save the day!
Sorry, but being healthy and able to perform must be taken into consideration when considering any athletic career. I'm tired of hearing all the "Yeah, buts..." Olson had a strong arm but little else...no mobility, limited vision. He starred in high school because he was simply bigger and stronger than anyone else, and probably played behind a great o-line. I’ll tell anyone who listens that one of the main reasons Dorrell is no longer around is because he put all his faith in Olson and therefore did not recruit some other good QBs that went to Cal, SC, or Oregon.
SPJ was KD's downfall. Suuuuuuure....
But find me a QB that puts up numbers w/o a good offense line...this I gotta see..
LAWYER, since you are such a USC fan, I can think of a couple of USC busts:
Herschel Dennis
Whitney Lewis
Allen Bradford
