Here is an interesting promotion UCLA is running during women's basketball home games:

UCLA Women's Basketball Fans Offered $100,000 "Shot Of A Lifetime"
Bruin fans have opportunity to win at every women's basketball home game.

Beginning this Sunday, Nov. 16, one lucky fan will have an opportunity to win an escalating prize of at least $100,000 at every UCLA women's basketball home game in the halftime contest "Shot of a Lifetime."

Fans can sign up to participate prior to tipoff inside Gate 16 of Pauley Pavilion, and one contestant will be chosen at random. That lucky fan will have 25 seconds to make (in order) a shot from behind the left elbow, a shot from behind the right elbow, a three-pointer from the top of the key, and a half-court shot. The grand prize for making these four shots in the time limit is at least $100,000. For every game that does not have a winner, the prize value will increase by $10,000. If no one has won the grand prize by the final home game of the season, that game's participant will be shooting for a quarter of a million dollars.

There is a maximum one entry per person per game. The contest is open to students and the general public. For more rules and regulations, visit the UCLA website at UCLABruins.com (http://uclabruins.cstv.com/sports/w-baskbl/spec-rel/sol-0809-rules.html).

Tickets for UCLA women's basketball games can be purchased at the UCLA Central Ticket Office at 310-UCLA-WIN or www.tickets.ucla.edu. Lower-level seats are $12 for adults and $8 for youth. Mid-level seats are $8 for adults and $6 for youth. UCLA students are admitted free.

In addition to the "Shot of a Lifetime", UCLA students will also have an opportunity to win a full $21,000 UCLA scholarship in a promotion called "Free Tickets, Full Ride". By attending any of the first 10 regular season women's basketball home games, current UCLA students will accumulate points towards a chance at the scholarship prize. For every game they attend, students will receive 10 points. Attending the Dec. 21 game vs. Kansas and the Jan. 11 game vs. USC will double their cumulative point total. At halftime of the USC game, one student will be randomly drawn as the winner. The more games you attend, the more chances you have to win.

To obtain points, students must pick up a free ticket from the UCLA Central Ticket Office and redeem it at the Pauley Pavilion gates.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
