Shutting down the run
As Oregon State's run game goes, so do the wins and losses. In Oregon State's five wins, the Beavers have 211 carries for 1,055 yards. In the three losses, the Beavers have 92 carries for just 270 yards. Beaver running back Jacquizz Rodgers is on pace to break Ken Simonton's 1998 freshman record of 1,028 yards. At this pace, Rodgers could surpass 1,400 yards.
``(Stopping the run) is huge,'' Rick Neuheisel said. ``They've pinned their hopes on a young guy that has answered all their questions of him. He's a terrific player. Obviously, if you can slow him down, you can put a little more pressure on their throwing game. Their ability to throw has been well-documented. I think if we can take away the running game to some extent, limit the running game, I don't know that we can take it away, if we can limit it we increase our chances. No question.''

It will be very interesting and telling to see if Coach DeWayne Walker and the UCLA Bruin defense can actually stop the OSU run game. It will be a big test for Coach DeWayne Walker, Brian Price and Brigham Hardwell. After all, despite valiant efforts by the All Americans on Defense, USC could not stop the OSU run game. To wit, that one loss cost a spot at the BCS Championship game.
That small running back, Jacquizz Rogers is crafy, elusive and hard to tackle. He is very good and reminds me a lot of another great small running back from UCLA from a few years ago, Maurice Jones-Lewis. He was so good, he made it to the NFL. I also believe that, given adequate coaching, Jacquizz Rogers will also make it to the NFL and play on Sundays.
More deep, incisive analysis from the Lawyer John imposter.
VB and I actually have something in common-- posters using our monikors or a variance of them. Of course, unless these frauds are using a Jill Painter or Brian Dohn monikor you cannot stop them; and you cannot sue them for libel or conversion. And so they get away with it.
That's all I will have to say on this subject.
But back to Neuheisel's comments, isn't that Football 101 common sense to shut down the run and then be able to concentrate on the pass?
Just sayin'

Hmmmm... when did MJD change his name??
If Roger's is "crafy" we're going to be in for a long day.
Lawyer boy said he liked Maurice Drew Lewis. Are you kidding me? Why didn't you bloggers correct him on that. He also called him " crafy." Then he finished his eloquent blog with the statement, " I think he will make it to the NFL and play on Sunday's." That statement seems a bit redundant. Please tell me he didn't go to UCLA. Also, someone please let me what Law firm he works for. I obviously want to avoid putting them on retainer.
Old School, LJ is a Trojan who posts on Wolf's blog and this one. He also sometimes posts here as Only the Truth, then tries to deny that he posts as LJ. However, OTT has previously admitted a few times that he posts under both names.
Let's set the record straight. The true and honest Lawyer John has posted on the Wolf blog for over a year. Lawyer John also posts on Brian's blog as Only the Truth.
This latest Lawyer John has nothing to do with me, and is a constant embarrassment to me. You think his style mirrors mine? I hope I don't have to repeat this anymore.
