Walker and the carousel
With coaches being fired, I'm hearing UCLA defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker will be on the list of several schools. From talking to sources, San Diego State and Wyoming are interested in Walker, and I hear he would be interested in talking to those schools.
However, I think it is too early to gauge the interest level from those schools in Walker.

I'm in grad school at SDSU now and, if Walker leaves the Bruins, would love to see him come and clean up the woeful state of Aztec football. The administration here is seriously considering dropping football all together. However, SDSU may be one of those unfixable situations that Walker may want to avoid. I see Wyoming as a waste of time given that it's so far off the radar. Hopefully, Walker can hold out for more of a high-profile position than either of these two universities would offer.
and deserves a shot at his own HC gig. He's turned a soft, under-achieving unit, into a tough, aggressive bunch.
I know that there are a lot of openings out there, but unless Walker is offered a BCS-type HC job, he should wait one more year. I think the defense will be potentially dominating next year, and we have a an accomodating schedule. If we win 8+ games next year, Walker could be a really hot commodity. If and when Walker leaves, come on down Ken Norton, Jr.
Well, SDSU can go the way of Long Beach State or San Jose State which was on its death bed before Tomey got there.
I hope coach Walker makes a wise choice. From what I hear he is qualified and deserves his shot. The decision he makes now will be with him the rest of his coaching life. I just hope he doesn't jump without realizing how far the ground is below.
Agree with Greg. We need to keep DW for one more year and watch him send a few more people to the NFL. Chris Horton has flourished with the Skins and I attribute it to Walkers coaching.

Walker jumping ship
Brian,
What about Syracuse and Washington?
I'd say any coordinator should jump when offered a head coaching job for a recognized team.. unless it's the Oakland Raiders.
Who knows. Joe Tiller used a winning program at Wyoming as a springboard to Purdue.
Some people are brave enough to start at small schools to develop into something more.
Chris Peterson is considered a great coach now and it began at Boise State.
