Avoiding embarrassment

UCLA tailback Kahlil Bell talked about the offense needing to play well to avoid being embarrassed by USC this week, and Jill Painter wrote about the 1988 measel’s game.
Also, Bruins coach Rick Neuheisel continues to say not every offensive problem is related to quarterback Kevin Craft.
“Protection is an issue,” Neuheisel said. “We are playing with a lot of inexperienced guys, and so (the defense) gets to (Craft), they get close to him. The first touchdown (by Arizona State) was a guy who came free and hit him int he back, and the ball comes loose.
“There are things that make him hurry to get the ball out of his hands that break down timing. We’ve got receivers that are sometimes not coming back to the ball.”
