How were these GPAs determined? I mean, there couldn't be any changes in GPAs from the beginning of the season to now, right? Was the only reason this list was not released earlier was to determine which players made a significant contribution to their team?

Also, how did Mike Nixon get a 4.05? I thought the highest any player could get was a 4.00 in college? College is not like HS, where you can get a higher GPA with AP and honors courses.

As a graduate from UCLA with a degree in Mathematics I tip my hat to Alteran Verner, a junior, with a 3.17 GPA. That's very hard to do without a job or being an athlete. Believe me, I know.

To do this as an athlete it's simply amazing.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
