Answers part 3
Here's more.
Q: How much contact and teaching is allowed by the football coaches with the players in the off season?
A: Coaches can dictate a mandatory weight-training schedule but no football-related activities during school. Football stuff, like passing drills, is voluntary. Neuheisel already told Brian Dohn he'd be disappointed if they were doing fewer than four workouts a week in a recent article. They can do plenty of teaching during spring ball.
Q: What happened to prized-recruit RB Darrell Scott who went to CU? Did he play much as a freshman?
A: From what I heard, Scott wasn't able to pick up blitzes or pass protection that well. Freshman Rodney Stewart moved ahead of him in the depth chart early, but then broke his leg and missed the last couple of games. Scott ran for 364 yards and averaged nearly 4 yards per carry, but he certainly didn't match the hype that accompanied him.
Q: What has attributed to California's lack of talented lineman or abundance of?
A: I don't know. Maybe they should eat whatever they're eating in Nebraska.
Q: Jill, i'm looking for a feminist touch here. What changes would you make to our football jerseys if you had to change one or two things?
A: Make them navy blue and orange. Then they'd be perfect.
Q: How is Nate Chandler progressing? Did he spend most of his time at TE or at OL??
A: I didn't notice.
Q: How do you like Coach Hawkins over at CU? Do you think he can turn things around eventually or is he just a Coach who had some success in a low tier conference like the WAC?
A: I think he's done a great job. He's a good motivator. And who didn't love his rant about this-ain't-intramurals? CU was a mess when he got there and had started losing recruits to Colorado State. The Buffs went to a bowl game last year but miss out this year because of some kid who made a 57-yard field goal. The Big 12 is tough, but he has to start winning more in conference.
