Answers, Part XXV
My goodness, those were a lot of questions. And answers. I hope everyone as able to get some solid info out of them. Here is the last set as I ready to head to Pauley Pavilion for tonight's hoops game.
Thought experiment: If you take this season's best college football players, give them a 6 week training camp, then face them off against this year's Lions...who wins?
The Lions kill them. It wouldn't even be close. Seasoned NFL players, even if they are not very good, will always crush kids fresh out of college.
Any truth to the rumor that Patrick Hall would like to commit to the Bruins, but hasn't done so because of non-football issues?
I don't deal in rumors, but from what I understand, UCLA and Patrick Hall are not a good match.
If you USC's football talent is 10 out of 10, what is UCLA's on a scale of 10?
Three or four.
What players from the class of 2015 does UCLA have silent verbals for? My point is, Isn't all this recruiting speculation meaningless until the players get on the field and actually do something?
Not entirely meaningless because it is interesting to see which schools are competing for players and who is winning those battles, but your point is well taken.
Next September San Diego State will roll into the Rose Bowl for its season opener with new coach Brady Hoke. How do UCLA coaches prepare for this type of scenario?
The staff will watch lots of Ball State film (where Hoke coached), and also get film of places his offensive and defensive coordinators coached in 2008 and scout that film.
Have you heard of the hoops frosh playing a 5 on 5 against the vets and if they have how did they perform?
I have not heard that. And I don't think Howland operates in that style.
If the silent commit has not been revealed (Presley), is this a recruit slated for O or D?
I'm not getting into that.
Who do you think will be the starting QB in 2009? I realize Craft has the job as the incumbent. But, do you think that Prince will be able to beat him out for the position?
I don't think Craft has the job as the incumbent. I think the job is wide open, and right now I think it is Prince's to lose. I also think incoming freshman Richard Brehaut has a chance to win the job.
Do you know what the players will be doing in the offseason to get bigger, stronger, and faster? Rick had mentioned in a couple of press conferences that the team was not strong enough to compete against a lot of teams.
Lifting weights, running, working out. The typical things, but with the focus on different muscles and with more intensity.

brian, you are about as accurate in your reporting as a blind guy at a sharpshooting contest...
....absolutely laughable in some of the things you print.
Hey Rick - thanks for the specifics in the comment. If you don't like what Brian writes, don't read his blog. It's fairly simple.
Take a hike Rick!! Brian is the man...beware before you get flamed!!
The comments in this blog are becoming more and more juvenile and imbecilic. I read Brian's articles for their inside information. I expect comments regarding same to be of similar standard. Don't waste Brian's time, or that of fans truly interested in Bruin athletics, with churlish shyte.
Keep up the good work, Brian.
Aussie Bruin
I don't understand why people like Rick and VB feel the need to behave the way they do on this blog.
Brian is certainly a better man than I because if I were him, I would have used maybe 40-45 of the over 130 questions this week...there were too many duplicate questions, and too many that only morons like Larry King would ask...
Yo Rick,
How about putting it where the sun don't shine...in your brain.
