Leaving it in the past
Many UCLA players are saying they're not drawing much from the Bruins' 13-9 upset win in 2006. UCLA was in a similar situation two years ago where it was a decided underdog.
``That's the past,'' Reggie Carter said. ``It proves nothing is impossible, and you have to drop it from there. It's possible, so go out and work for it.''

SUC-UGLA Myths Disspelled (Part 3):
Have noticed how bruins love to say how SC is "in the ghetto" or in "South Central."
First, that smacks of racism, the implication from the bruin faithful that it is best not to be with people of color. For supposedly liberal-minded bruins that is rather unseemly.
Second, it displays geographical ignorance-- Compton is in South Central, USC forms the southern boundary of downtown Los Angeles. And have you been to downtown lately?-- If there is a soul to the city of Los Angeles it is located in central. And Figueroa Street which borders SC on the east side, is one of L.A.'s most endearing avenues all the way through the downtown corridor.
Just sayin'

Two comments to OTT's comments.
1. I never say that USC is in the ghetto. I just point out that the entire campus is surrounded by a 10 foot tall spiked wrought iron fence and you must pass a security guard to enter. I let the person I'm talking to draw their own conclusions. That way there's no racism involved.
2. The term is not "South Central" it's "South Central L.A." (unless you're only 18 years old and don't know better) and Compton is NOT in L.A.
Compton is in South Central? Are you saying that or am I misreading? Last I checked it's its own city that doesn't even border the city of LA. And you talk about Bruins and geographical ignorance.
I'm tired of hearing about that victory, so were many of the players that left last year. Don't get me wrong, I loved the victory - I was there!, but that was in the past. If that game meant we won the Pac-10, then it would have more meaning.
Frankly, the last 10 years, this hasn't been much a rivarly. Hate to say it, but the SUC wants to run up the score on the Bruins.
