Monopoly, Sorry! or Trouble?
Here is a story I wrote about UCLA's program compared to USC, playing off the theme of the preseason ad in which UCLA stated USC's monopoly was over in Los Angeles when it came to college football.
Also, here is the notebook from today's paper.
Here is audio of coach Rick Neuheisel after Tuesday's practice.

I begrudingly agree that it will take many years for the UCLA FB program to catch up with the FB program at USC. USC is LIGHT YEARS ahead in National Champtionships, BCS games, and recruiting. I hate to admit it, but that is ONLY THE TRUTH.
As Brian Dohn said, the crowing achievement of the UCLA FB program was the 2005 Sun Bowl. In my humble opinion, it will take many years of recruiting and most importantly, the sofenting up of Admission Standards, for UCLA to even take a whiff of USC. Lets face it, when you are focusing on the pigskin and gridiron, there is not much time for books.
At USC, if you can run, throw or catch a football then that is all you need to pass Admissions as a scholarship athlete in the FB program. Not much else needed. I hate to admit it, but that is ONLY THE TRUTH.
LAWYER JOHN
SUC-UGLA Myths Disspelled (Part 2):
Myth: SC is the king of football and ucla is the king of basketball.
Truth: SC football was probably the national team of the '70s but did not win a national championship for 25-years from 1978 until 2003 (and a co-championship at that).
ucla basketball won a national champion in 1975 (the 1974 team) and has only won one more in 34-years.
LJ (The real one).
This Lawyer John imposter is probably the same kid that plays off "VB's" monikor.
I do not think that anyone has ever crowned UCLA king of NCAA B-ball, nor though Trojans the king of Football (they may have crowned themselves).
However, I think the point is that Petey and the Trojies have been the most dominant program in the past 7 years (we have to admit it).
UCLA B-ball lived off history for 20 years, but I think it is safe to say that the program is back to elite status with the work of CBH.
Kings? Debateable.
Elites? Given.
Nice work Young Alum 08.
It just goes to show that posters can have a difference of opinion and still carry on reasonable discourse. And, quite honestly, I agree with your assessment.
