Brian,

Do you think these players are seriously considering UCLA or are they just taking a free trip to Los Angeles to watch the game? I am not saying I blame them for taking a free trip, just curious on your thoughts of how serious they are.

Michigan kid going to OSU. Texas kid going to Texas Tech...seems like those would be hard to break because they're much closer to home.

Your thoughts?

Also, I was looking on Scout.com and it appears that Joel Gray is an OT rather than a DT. Excited to see he's a recruit for the offense!

The biggest target on that list is John Martinez. I think scout has his list down to the Bruins, LSU, and $uC. He has already visted LSU and $uC, meaning that we are his last scheduled visit. I think the big question is, why this game and not on 12/12/08 (committed players visit) when a lot of other recruits (e.g. Michael Phillip) have been scheduled. Obviously, the kid has his own schedule and 12/12 might have conflicted.

However, if I had a guess, it is because we are trying to play catch up with Martinez. Hopefully he sees the potential in the program, the opportunity to play immediately, and our academic standing rather than the 30-point favorites on the other sideline.

Would love to hear your thoughts Brian.

With Weis's future no longer in question at ND, I wonder why Stockton is still visiting us. I heard he is going to enroll early at school, which makes it even more of a head scratchier as why he is visiting us.

Free trips except for maybe Jackson. I heard he really liked his first visit to UCLA. Hopefully he sees the light! Dude has crazy wheels.

John Martinez is going to SC. I think we wanted to seet he ND game and UCLA game in person, so he's pretending to be interested.

Stockton might be serious as it's not a good thing to take an official visit once you are commited to ND. Let's see if he actually comes now that Weiss is returning.

Joel Gray maybe interested since there is speculation about Leach. Once Leach milks his extension by pretending to be interested in UW, Gray will again be fully commited.

Wheaton, I don't know anything about.

Who needs the services of Brian Dohn when there are so many "Recruiting Experts" posting here. Why even wait to signing day or take a visit to another school.

I have read all the documentation available and I think Jose Martinez will commit to USC. I hate to admit it, but its ONLY THE TRUTH.

Jose Martinez? If you said Juan, I could understand. But, Jose?

Its nice to see our tax dollars being wasted on recruiting "vacations/trips" for already committed players and guys who are showing up free of charge in reality wanting to get a nice sunny weekend away from home and see the Trojans play live in person.

And the only light Jackson will see this weekend is the scoreboard lighting up big for USC and really small for the squirly bruins.

Just be patient bRuin fans, give Neuhiesel a few more years to bring in "the usual" Neweasel recruits (ex UW & CU) that come to school with rap sheets as long as the UCLA class schedule. Then maybe, just maybe you might be relevant again....

@ "The Coach", another ignorant trOJan troll. Can't say I'm surprised.

The UCLA athletic dept is completely self-supporting and uses no public funds.

Brian,

Scout.com says that Martinez visited USC last week. Did he bother flying home or just come straight to Westwood?

The Coach Author Profile Page said:

Martinez wanted to be around a winning program so he either stayed at SC all week or went back to practice for state playoffs with his high school team....

Troll? good one...but seriously... any odds on Craft with 4+ INTS saturday?

Ah yes, The Coach...the chubby guy you see at the mall wearing his SUC jersey waiting in line at Payless. "My son's friend might be going to USC if he gets in, we're all big fans!" Get a life.
