Presley on Carroll

| | Comments (39) |

When I was talking go Carson High tight end Morrell Presley recently, I asked him if USC coach Pete Carroll had an inkling he was going to de-commit and go to UCLA.
"I don't think he saw it coming," Presley said. "I have a lot of respect for him, and I'm not going to talk bad about their coaches. I guess I could say he was disappointed and it kind of caught him off guard, but I told him I appreciated everything over the years but I had to turn around and enroll at UCLA."

Was hoping this was Randall Carroll news. Thanks anyways Brian. Here's to Presley disappointing Carroll for the next 4 years.

Funny Neu Era...I was thinking the same thing! Let's hope Presley starts spreading some good words about UCLA to all of his people!

That's great. Presley already showing Bruin class.

Leave the classless comments to Ken Norton Jr, LenDale White, and the majority of Trojan fans

i luv morrell presley! see morrell, u get luv over here... as a trojan u would only be a faceless body that fills their over-bloated roster. seriously, thats the plain and simple truth.

go bruins!!

I was also hoping this meant he was recuiting randall carroll. Oh well, good comments by MP, so far he always says the right thing.

I think he saw All-America canidate Blake Ayles' name on the roster and knew he would sit for 2-3 years.

ONLYTHETRUTH Author Profile Page said:

And just what is "bruin class?"

Aside from Brian Dohn, who is not a bruin, I hardly ever seen any class displayed on this blog. But then again, over 90% of these posters never walked the halls of ucla, and are merely subway alums.

Old school - That is so typical of a trojan fan. haha! It's just too funny. I am already prepared to hear that "we didn't really need them" or "they would sit behind X player for years" yadi,yadi,yadi... if or when Flourney, Carroll, or any other current trojan commit switches to UCLA.

John Henry said:

Class of 1999 right here. North campus.

Dohn, have you seen what Scott Wolf wrote about your "ace in the hole" comment? Care to respond? Here it is:

"Q: It's been said by another local newspaper reporter that if Stan Hasiak's commitment to UCLA begins to waiver they have an "ace in the hole" that will keep him from breaking away. Any idea what their angle is and if there's any way at all that it's not ethically questionable?

A: I'd like to actually see this article before commenting because it sounds sketchy that a paper would write something like this."

Most here have walked the halls, I believe you are getting confused with you fellow gangster SUC fans. You know exactly what I mean, every SUC fan I talk to hates the bandwagon gangsters. I feel they will not tag along to the rose bowl once UCLA takes over the city because they will not wear powder blue. You will be stuck with these fans just like the raiders. Raider and Trojan nation are one in the same and you know it. Sorry LJ, but that is ONLYTHETRUTH.

At last we're getting some in-depth comments. Well done everybody! I'm thinking that maybe Presley will play WR or H-Back rather than TE. He's got to put on nearly 40 lbs to be an effective blocking TE in college/pro football. That's possible, and if we don't land Sanders, that may well be what transpires. It's going to be interesting to follow the developments. The 'morrell' of the story is, if you run a clean program and put forth the effort, players of conscience will switch from the Dark Side.

Jewin Author Profile Page said:

Hey onlythetruth. Why do you frequent this blog if you dislike UCLA and its fans so much? This is a UCLA sports blog after all. You remind me of people who move to LA from out-of-state only to constantly criticize things and people here. I say, if you don't like it, leave!

MP can gain 20 pounds and be plenty effective at 230-235 Aussie...if he doesn't the coaches will keep him lean and get him faster and line him up in the slot, he wont be in the backfield.

And to all the VB wannabe's, get a life, this blog is for sports not your obsession with VB.

Thanks "bruins" for proving my point about bruin "class." Your comments speak for themselves.

And I did not say 100% of the posters were bruin wannabes; some of you actually have true bruin standing-- very few.

Hey, I have a Christmas challenge. I am going to say something nice about ucla tomorrow, Christmas Eve, and I dare you to say something nice about SC.

Hey ONLYTHETRUTH..... I accept your challenge. South Carolina is a beautiful state w/great golf courses... a compliment a day early!! (as a lawyer, you should know to define terms thoroughly).

In case you didn't know, outside of LA, USC means Gamecocks... not trojans.

ONLYTHETRUTH Author Profile Page said:

Are you expecting a touche', Challenge Taker?

SC is a copyright; South Carolina is not allowed to use it.

And you probably wish Southern California were not known outside California, but SC football is probably America's team. That is why bruins hate SC. I know, I know, the truth hurts, and you continually hide from it.

And as for you BruinFBBB, even on the eve of Christmas Eve you cannot display an ounce of human kindness. Is there any wonder there is no world peace!

Amazing, but not unexpected.

Still, I will have a good word for ucla tomorrow.

Challenge Taker said:

Copyright or not... the rest of the country thinks of Gamecocks, not trojans. Sorry to burst your bubble of arrogance.

And America's team? Right. More like America's Most Wanted team.

A Bruin came over to Wolf's blog yesterday after VB started trolling to point out that he is not a Bruin and to disregard his comments. I now do the same in regard to Lawyer John/Only the Truth.

"Lawyer" John is not a Trojan. He has less support over there than VB has here and is ignored so much that apparently has turned to you for attention.

If everyone ignores him here, maybe he'll go bother people on an Oregon Ducks blog.

SC is America's team? Are you kidding? You mean as in Everybody in America loves to hate SC. I don't know of any other team that is despised as much as SC, but if you want to believe otherwise, I guess that's why you hang out at this blog so much. You have to obsess what others think about you.

You do not have to be a UCLA graduate to be a UCLA fan. And since a non-UCLA graduate's high school diploma probably involved more work that a degree from University of South Central I would probably not play that up too much if I were you . . .

Umm, USC is NOT "America's Team". I currently live in the south and have lived on the East Coast (New York, Philadelphia and Boston); I also travel on Business to the Midwest.

The one thing I can guarantee is that there are not a lot of USC fans outside of Los Angeles. Are there a few? Of course, any team has a few fans all over. That is not a knock on USC, I'm just saying that their fan base is not different than most teams.

As much as I HATE to admit it, I see far more Notre Dame and Michigan representation across the US than any other college team. It is not even close.

As any real lawyer knows, the letters "SC" are not copyrightable. Another lie from "onlythetruth."

ONLYTHETRUTH Author Profile Page said:

The interlocking S and C are a copyright as South Carolina found out, and it belongs to SC.

And real lawyers don't use the "l" word, calling somebody a liar is considered impolite where I come from, but instead lawyers state that one has made a misrepresentation or that one has misstated the facts.

You don't even have to go to that far out of LA to find people not familiar with 'SC'. I was in Vegas with some trOJans, one of them was wearing a cap, complete with the copyrighted, interlocking SC logo you're so proud of when a store clerk asked us:
"Where are you guys from, South Carolina?"

I laughed my ass off.

Exactly, the interlocking S and C are protected by TRADEMARK, not copyright, as onlytheuntruth misstated above. Go back to law school and learn the difference.

Bottom line with Presley...At USC you compete, he probably wasn't up to competing, and being undersized and thus challenged at the sophisticated blocking regimen of the Trojan offensive scheme knowing he'd be 3rd or 4th down, he decided to come to aclu. Another good thing or him is that at aclu, there's no one who can get a forward pass to him! In other words he took the easy way out coming to a program where there are no expectations.
